I Jy Sheng Xinyi Store — Restaurant in Da'an District

I don't visit this bakery too often, as it's not as close as some others, but I do like it, as they often try new recipes out, or variations on things they do on a regular basis.

The store is a little small so at the weekend it can get a bit crowded and you're left jostling past customers to get to the items you want or to get served, but it's not that you are there for too long.

One of the odd things about this store is that they're nearly always playing middle-of-the-road traditional German songs that seem to come from the mid 80s! I'm not kidding! There is a German bakery nearby, which is clearly 'German', but apart from the music, there's nothing about this store that explains their choice...

They take American credit cards!!! That alone would be enough to make this place my new favorite bakery, but the baked goods are delicious too, and generally almost everything is between $1-3 US. That's pretty good. I go a little nuts here. My favorite items for dessert are the custard buns with the swirl, the chocolate rolls, and the pineapple buns (no pineapple, more like a croissant with a lightly sweet topping). Pretty good little Taiwanese bakery similar to Sun Merry. Great for a quick on-the-go meal any time of day or for a snack while you wait outside for your table at Din Tai Fung. Roughly NT$30-45 per item (about $1-1.50 USD). There's a lot of variety and you might even see pizza.

As you walk in, look to the right and grab tongs and a tray then line it with the provided paper. Pile up your goods then head to the register.
