Macho Tacos 瑪丘墨式餅舖 (師大 Shida) — Restaurant in Da'an District

This place really deserves 2.5 stars. This place has some pros and cons. I ordered the fish taco meal and I really enjoyed the fish tacos. Unfortunately despite churros being on the menu, they didn't have them and I couldn't pay extra for my soda to be turned into Horchata. Not sure why that is. So my meal turned into fish tacos, chips and a coke. My husband ordered the cheese quesadilla, soda and fries(no cheese). We received both our orders and the first thing I noticed was that the fries were with my order and the chips were with his. No big deal. The 2nd thing we noticed was that the cheese quesadilla had onions and tomatoes in them. Uh, did we miss that in the description? Nope, we looked at it again and it's a cheese only quesadilla. Where in the world did the onions and tomatoes come from? My husband didn't touch the quesadilla. At the end of our meal I took the plate back to them to see if they'd recycle food that we didn't touch. They didn't even ask why we didn't eat the food. No concern what so ever for the entire quesadilla we did not want. So overall. Pro: cashier spoke english, the fish tacos were great and you get unlimited soda refills. Con: no churros, no possibility of upgrading your drink and a BIG warning to others, the cheese quesadilla has surprise ingredients in it, and unfortunately it didn't feel like the staff cared why we were going to throw away an entire...

This place is as close to Mexican food as it comes, but I really gotta hit them with the 1 star due to terrible service. This is what happened:

I called and asked if they offer double chicken in their rice bowls on Foodpanda because I didn't see the option. The lady said yes they do and it must be Foodpanda's mess up, which I don't see how because Foodpanda does not know what the store sells. The delivery platform doesn't dictate what is on their menu so how is it their fault? Anyway, she tried to hand off the phone to her co-worker because I asked if I can choose sides that total up to the cost of the extra chicken and she just simply didn't want to deal with that. When she tried to hand the phone off, I heard her swear 2 times and when she came back on the phone, I confronted her saying that if she couldn't do the extra chicken, just say it, there's no need to swear where the customer could hear it.

Honestly 2 stars for the food because the chicken is not tender at all and 0 stars for...

I went there as I was carving Mexican food and they provide vegetarian options. I ordered a rice bowl with cheese and tofu taco.

The taco tasted nice, the tofu balanced the flavors nicely.

On the other hand I was a bit disappointed by the rice bowl. I selected the Mexican rice option and I found that apart from beans everything else was cold. It seemed like the precooked rice that you get in the convenience store was used. It had a very strong tomato flavor (not salsa) and cheese and beans failed to balance it. I would recommend that the rice should be heated up just like the beans the temperature difference does not feel good. Especially when flavours are also not balanced. Heated rice and beans would together melt the cheese a bit which would be nice.

In general to vegetarian eating here... I think using tofu as a choice of protein would be better than choosing cheese. For indians the tofu here does a test quite similar to panner in paneer BBQ......
