Nippori Shabu-Shabu was just a middle of the road hotpot place in a sea of hotpot restaurants. The staff was friendly and ready to help, although not too pushy or anxiously on top of customers. The ambience is tidy, relaxed and quiet, and holding a discussion was no problem, unlike some restaurants that crank up the music or suffer problematic acoustics making conversation difficult. My friend and I agreed that if we returned, this may be the only real draw. The menu was only in Chinese, with various cuts of and types of meat, available either ala carte or with a set, followed by an extensive a la carte listing of hotpot add-ins such as fish balls, seafood, etc. If you opt for one of the less expensive options based solely on pork (豬肉), beef (牛肉), or lamb(羊肉), you'll still find the meat adequate and not too tough while the set provides the usual round-up of vegetables and tofu accoutrements. The dipping sauce is also standard, and I'd have preferred the ubiquitous sauce bar to customize my own. For an inexpensive set, including tea, meat, vegetables and tofu, and red bean soup for dessert, the bill came to about NT$350. Beer and wine are also available...

Red bean soup at the end was great. Total bill was about 1600NT which was okay. Will...
Read moreOne of the best shabu I’ve had so far. Very clear and clean soup with super fresh ingredients. A bit of Japanese influence since the dipping sauce is like a ponzu sauce. Love the free dessert (red bean soup) at the end. Two bosses were friendly and attentive. Though they were busy, they still came to check if everything was okay. Will definitely go back if I ever visit...
