We decided to visit this breakfast place instead of joining the long queue at Yong He which is just a few streets away. Food was ok overall. Nothing spectacular. We ordered the egg wrapped sticky rice, dan bing (egg pancakes), mi jiang (which is something like sweet peanut rice drink, shao bing jia you tiao (fried you tiao wrapped in pastry). Didn’t fancy the egg pancakes that had bean sprouts in it - you can find better ones in other shops. The sticky rice tasted pretty bland. Shao bing you tiao was simply too dry and bland for our Malaysian tastebuds, but it seems that the locals like to order it. The pastry tastes something like puff pastry. Probably the mi jiang (I think translated as “rice drink”?) was the best amongst all. It had an earthy and rich peanut sweetness to it. Also, beware of the lady taking orders who can be quite impatient and snappy. The old lady at the cash register, on the contrary, is super friendly. If you want a taste of better local Taiwanese breakfast, perhaps try somewhere else. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you have plenty of time to spare and just need a decent breakfast to fill your tummy.

Throw back 9 October 2023, and I ordered the following. Highly recommed the soya milk, salty soya milk (taste like conge, for me, but my hubby don't like it due to the vinegar tatse) We take away a rice roll with crispy youtiao in it! Omg! It's a must try. There is no picture to share, sorry, it's too nice and I forgot to take a picture of it. There is plenty of breakfast choice. So get a table, join the Q, order portion from steam bun, portion from fried counter and portion from drinks counter, so they split into 3 counter, but the Q are continuous. At the last counter, drink counter, you can make payment. Indeed, it is a local shop compared to another expensive breakfast store (if you know which one I'm referring 😉 😜) Localised, affordable, lesser queue, good quality, and friendly aunty.

I went there yesterday morning after my run in Daan Park. I was excited to try the traditional Chinese sesame pancake with the Chinese donut. 燒餅油條,it was really a disappointment! It tasted cold and hard when I first bite into it. Tasted like the overnight leftover one. Asked the store server, she said you need to tell them if you want it hot so they will reheat it for you! Isn’t the breakfast dining in place should serve the food fresh and hot? Why I need to request it? I am not ordering cold dish… I had to add the hot green onion egg in order to make it eatable. Still do not taste good because the hard texture of the sesame pancake. Will never go back again.

Sounds like a local spot with good local vibes from the reviews…so I don’t know if our SUPER unfriendly experience was because we stopped by for a late night snack. This is my fifth 豆漿 visit on this trip and I’m fluent in mandarin, so I think I have some credibility to say these were some of the rudest servers I’ve met here in Taipei. They had a food ordering system that confused even the locals (placed a likely local’s order all on my tray and almost had me pay for it) and sassed back if you asked for clarification. Food was very average (limp 油條 but again at night). Again, this might just be a night experience but I would not recommend anyone who isn’t a local to come at night, or to at least come prepared...
