大戶屋高雄大遠百店 — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Mid scale Japanese teishoku (set meal) chain restaurant located in the crowded 11th floor of the Far Eastern Department store right at the corner of Jungshan and Sanduo roads.

Food quality and atmosphere is better at some of their other locations. Service is friendly and business very brisk even on a weekday night.

I was considering giving only 3 stars for the food because it compared poorly with other locations of the same chain in presentation and served sequence. Freshness and taste were still there, but maybe the busyness also affected the overall outcome for full satisfaction.

For the grilled selections, the double grill of pork and chicken combine is better than just chicken or pork because quantity is more and for Nt$10 more, you get chawanmushi (steamed egg).

For those who don’t eat meat, quite a lot of fish dishes to choose from. Grilled, in soy sauce with 3 or 4 different kinds of fish.

Given a choice, I would go to their other locations but for the convenience of others in the party who were coming by MRT, nothing beats this location.

This is one of our family's local restaurants.. it's a restaurant chain, so you'll expect their service staff are trained well. Although their manner is sort of machenical but their service is fast. The waiting is short even if there are 4 or 5 parties are ahead of you on the waiting list. My family would dine here 3 to 4 times every month and I would try to order a different set from the menu each time. They keep their food prices very fair against the crazy 15% or higher inflation rate in Taiwan. But during my last two visit, I found they could resist tge temptation of shrinkflation tactic. Came here after watching a movie. The restaurant is located in the Mega mall. The food came quickly and was tasty. The portions are a good size and can easily be shared.
