Humble beginnings café — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Was there for brunch. Food was very disappointing for the price paid. Egg can only be overcooked or undercooked. Patty meat tasted wrong without flavor. French honey bread is actually ciabatta with sweet honey on it. Doesn’t match the beef patty at all and no other options. Yogurt is very sweet, and don’t expect nuts or honey, just some corn flakes. Expect raisins and corn in your salad. The mushroom soup was only just palatable. Nothing had an appetizing taste of freshness or handmade goodness. This place is always popular, so reservation the day before is recommended. But they were still flexible to accommodate me and my party with last minute time changes.

Lots of hype from their burgers, but I didn't order. The size of their burgers look monstrous and delicious though. I got the French toast set. Portion was great, taste was 10/10, and as a brunch/treat yoself breakfast plate, worth it.

This is the closest thing to a western-style brunch that I've found in Kaohsiung so far. It's not cheap compared to other places, but you get what you pay for. Their omelets are large and they come with a full plate of food including the most delicious little French loaf. There are several options for waffles and they're all tasty and fresh.
