Not sure if the owner had a less-than-perfect day when we visited or others crave western food too much after some time in the East ;-) I’d agree with others that the food is not bad at all but calling it “possibly best burgers on the island” is a bit far-fetched, IMHO. The burgers themselves are very good, and reasonably priced, agree. However Buns are apparently home-made. But mine was rather dense & dry. I’d propose a longer dough kneading & proofing which will allow for higher hydration & improved gluten development. Yes, that takes noticeably more time to prepare them, but I think it’s time well invested My fries were very pale, at the edge of being raw potato. May I suggest considering double-frying like what the Belgians do? Fry them to the level they were served to me. Then let cool and once an order goes out, fry them again until golden brown. That’ll make them crispy outside, soft inside. (and not soft outside, dense inside ;-) ) A good burger is IMHO best washed down with a good beer. There’s quite a craft beer supply starting to appear in Taiwan, I’d happily pay more for such a brew rather than having to do with a Taiwan beer or Corona...

But then again, maybe I just visited the wrong day. I shall try again if I happen to be...

Soul Food Bistro is an absolute gem in Yilan! Everything I tried was full of flavor and left me wanting more.

The samosas were crispy on the outside with a warm, savory filling that was comforting and satisfying. The mashed potato quesadilla was creamy and flavorful—simple comfort food done right.

But the highlight? The burrito—easily the best burrito in Yilan! It was packed with fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and so satisfying. If you’re ever craving a burrito, this is the place to go.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and you can tell the food is made with care. I’ll definitely be...

For quesadilla: it is divided into 4 cuts. It tastes good and it made me full! Normally, quesadilla is just a side dish for me. But this one is an exception.

For the burger (as shown in the photo): it is very delicious!

YOU SHOULD GO HERE WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY!

Definitely worth coming back!

For the boss, he is nice to us. He tried to strike some conversation with us.

It is also a food for the soul.
