Do It True (Nei Hu) — Restaurant in Neihu District

More than 40 years since my last visit to the restaurant. Very authentic northern style Mandarin cuisine, more specifically Beijing style. For example, 燵璉火燒 (I would translate into “double turnovers” named after the cooking technique. Pot sticker, one side cooking. Beijing meat pie, two side cooking or turnover. This specialty dish is four side cooking, or I call it “double turnovers.” Stuff inside is made of shrimp, pork meat, and yellow chives. Very unique and delicious. 合菜玳瑁，another Beijing’s local delight. Direct translation would be “chop suey soft turtle shell” or chop suey covered with egg omelette, one of my all time favorite family style dish. A traditional Chinese restaurant. Many extraordinary dishes you can taste here, but the price is not that cheap in contrast to other restaurants. However the price is far lower than five star hotels. Besides the dishes serve here is Beijing style or the northern cuisine, most five star hotels do are Cantonese style or southern cuisine, actually mix-match cuisine. If anyone come to Taipei, this restaurant is a must-visit. They have two restaurants now. One is this branch, and other is near Taipei city hall. Just don't come. Terrible table service, the waitresses are all Chinese and they are quite rude. We were a group of 8, coming in about 19:30. The staffs were rushing the dishes out. We didn't finish our main dishes and the dessert had already come, the dessert was supposed to be hot/warm and it's gotten cold because of early serving. The foods are way over priced.
