GARDENh — Restaurant in New Taipei

A disappointing experience. Was looking forward to a delicious birthday lunch with my father as this was my first time back in two years. Unfortunately, we waited nearly 40 minutes for the food to arrive and for some unfathomable reason, even the tables who placed their orders after us got their food first. I had to ask a server to remind the kitchen about our food after waiting for half an hour. 10 minutes later, the server came back and told me they were cooking our food at that moment...I guess we'd just sit there until the end of time if I hadn't spoken up.

This restaurant has been in business in the Zhonghe district for 10 to 20 years with consistently good service and quality dishes. To say we were disappointed today would be an understatement. We will not be back. We know that this place is always busy but they've never made customers wait without coming over to let them know what's going on. Having asked a birthday cake to leave in a fridge and a male at reception (it seem an owner) goes if I ever found an available fridge, if not I’ll return to you if I saw him upstairs; yet I have told this is a surprise and he remains rushing.

This is worst response I have ever heard in terms of Michelin guide and their reputation ever since I have visited several times at childhood.

Besides, there was no more seasoned fruit plate to be at last serving considering high price, also please manage menu to be tidy and clean, there are unbearable stains and totally not pleasant reflect on first impression.

All in all, table service still unmatched but it goes wrong on some points after...

This long-time traditional Hakka restaurant is nicely decorated and on a higher end for this neighborhood. Many choices for appetizers including fried tiny fish with chili, stir fried string bean, and stew fish are great. Stew chicken soup with cabbage, shredded tofu stir fried with beef, very very fried stinky tofu are must try.

Reservation is a must on Fridays, weekends and holidays. Call ahead to make sure there are tables for your party.

Parkings in front of the restaurant are limited.
