A very special place and experience. Due to ancient superstitions, Taiwan has one of the largest beliefs in ghosts of any country, so don't be surprised at all the 1 star reviews saying this place is bad yin.

You must walk up a very creepy staircase to get here, the scariest part of which is a badly treated dog in a farm that's chained up and barks with a lot of anger. That was scary and also sad :( I wish they would treat that dog better.

The actual food is decent and the atmosphere is amazing. Though the area looks very remote, it's actually about a 15 or 20 minute walk...

I finally dined at this very interesting place after hiking down from Yangmingshan. Once you ascend the stairs past the ghosts, turn right through the gate and you find a beautiful cottage house with spectacular night views of Taipei from the picnic tables outside. Since you sit outside, mosquitos are a problem, but the owners have mosquito coils and can give you aloe to rub on your skin to deter them from biting. The vegetarian food is good and the owners are friendly and talkative, making for a pleasant and unusual...
