Dore French Bake House in Taichung is a bakery that's truly in a league of its own. From the moment you step inside, you're surrounded by a mouth-watering array of sourdough breads, French-style pastries, and other baked goods that are sure to tempt your taste buds.

While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the baked goods is simply outstanding. I ordered the Mexican chocolate cake and French butter cookies, and both were exceptional. But the bakery is also known for its extensive brunch menu, which features a range of savory dishes that are just as impressive as the sweets.

The brunch menu may be in the higher price range as well, but the quality of the ingredients and preparation is well worth it. The bakery is bustling with customers who come for the bread and bakery items, but also those who are looking for a delicious brunch or a leisurely coffee break.

The attention to detail at Dore French Bake House is evident in every aspect of the experience, from the beautifully crafted pastries to the elegant and spacious interior. The bakery's commitment to quality has earned it a loyal following among locals and tourists alike.

Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Dore French Bake House in Taichung. Whether you're looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy a coffee and pastry, want to indulge in some of the best French-style baked goods around, or are in the mood for a decadent brunch, this bakery is sure to satisfy your cravings. Bon appetite...

Dore is a bakehouse (café) with a large space with a lot of natural light pouring in. There are square tables for singles and couples and also a long wood top table for larger parties of people. Decor is muted and minimal and the bakery/kitchen is windowed so you can see everything be prepared. The menu is accordingly minimal in style. Easy to read with English names too, a good amount of dishes for brunch with reasonable pricing. Not on the menu is the huge selection of different breads and cakes which can be seen on display behind the counter. I had the cruffin (pretty unremarkable) and croissant french toast (pretty remarkable). Though I had to wait a little longer than my friends for my french toast to arrive it was certainly worth the wait. As you can see from the photos the french toast croissant was a highlight. From what I could see Dores customers are varied; everyone from single workers on a laptop, couples looking for Instagram photos and families with children came through during my time there. I went there around 1-2pm and it was quite busy but by the time I left it was winding down. Service was good though when I arrived another family left and it was 10 minutes or so before their empty dishes were cleared. WiFi was great though I don't think anyone else was using it. As a side note their Chromecast was unlocked and I had the option of changing the media from my phone. Though I didn't try of course.

So, I don’t know where to start, the sour bread was soooooooooo good! 😍😋🤩 and the cream cheese sauces had so many choices! 🤩 such as regular cream cheese, onion and garlic ( my personal favorite ❤️), and sea salt Carmel. Plus the desserts are so delicious 🤤 that I couldn’t stop eating the desert the deserts that I liked the most were the osmanthus st. Honore’ the puffs were crunchy and the whip cream and lemon cream came together so perfectly! ☺️ the drink guava drink had a wonderful taste and texture not too sweet and perfect for people who don’t like drinks to bold of a taste! The sour bread was also so delicious 🤤 there weee four different flavors regular, berry, cheese and jalapeño, and lastly sesame seed. The sour bread and the cream cheese went so good together! 🥰 the hazelnut nut latte was so delicious and had a great splash of flavor, I also tried the berry smoothie the texture and flavor was so good like sweet and sour, the perfect combo 👌😍lastly the setting and atmosphere was so pretty and comfortable, the temperature was perfect no to could and not to hot, lastly the service was amazing the second you come in they help you get seated and bring you a menu.☺️ they are so nice and make you feel so welcome 🤗! I will definitely recommend this shop it especially has the best sour dough Tai Chung! I don’t understand the people who say this is bad this is the best bakery in Taiwan come here and experience the amazing things in this...

4.5 stars A nice place for western style brunch in Taichung. The quality of the food is good and we enjoyed our food. The eggs Benedict was delicious-- probably the best I've had in Taichung so far. My friend had the avo and egg sandwich with bacon. He said the quality of the ingredients were high but "there was no dominant flavour." My two other friends simply enjoyed their fig salad and avocado toast with salmon. No complaints. I also had the lemon pie. It was super good but more expensive than I thought ($180). There was no price listed in the display so I had no idea how much it was. We sat outside on the patio and didn't have to wait. However there was a line waiting to be seated inside (we went on a Sunday of a long weekend.) Like all restaurants in Taiwan, the food didn't come at the same time. I was done eating by the time my friend's fig salad arrived. The staff seemed a bit flustered but they tried to be helpful and friendly. The bathrooms were super clean. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Dore.
