The stay took place on September 26th of 2021, it was a room that I booked through trip.com, and used my credits to offset the somewhat "expensive" rate at this hotel.
The room rate was at around $150/evening, without breakfast, with taxes and fees. At this standard in Taichung, the Millennium would be considered as one of the more expensive hotels in Taichung, simply due to its location. However, as you know, Taichung is very well maintained, but it feels a lot more like West end highway in the evening than the Times Square.
I took off around $74 dollars for this trip, so I basically paid a bit over $70 for the room. Maybe it was because the hotel knew I only paid $70 for it, so I was given probably, the WORST hotel room in the entire building.
The hardware: lots of residences in Taichung look a lot newer than buildings in Taipei, therefore, for a hotel such as the Millennium, its lobby, seriously...it's quite weak. The lobby is considered very small and doesn't feel like $150/night, but definitely only $80/night.
I would give it 7/10.
The room: the room itself was quite small, feels like around 30 sqm or less. The view, is directly against the building next door, I would say maybe, no more than 25-30 feet away. The carpet is dirty. The bathroom is only alright. The bed is nice to sleep in (but then again, I think I basically can sleep anywhere globally, so this might not be quite accurate), there will be some strange noises (such as toilet flushing causing the pipe to break) from time to time.
I would give it a 6/10.
Service: as most of the places, except Hotel Cham Cham in Banciao, New Taipei City, the service is wonderful. All representatives I have met have been extremely kind and professional and helpful. Love it!
I would give it a 10/10.
Overall, quite disappointed at this hotel. Would not stay here again, at $150/night. You could find much nicer ones in Taichung,...
Read moreWould like to highlight an issue we encountered with regards to our deposit and certain charges that were made to us but which we had not incurred. When we were checking out, we asked to have a look at our statement of charges as we understood that any additional charges would be offset by the deposit placed with the hotel. We had dinner at "The Prime -Grill and Lounge" on one of the nights and just wanted to check if the charges were right. The statement showed 3 separate bills that were not incurred by us and were all purchases of alcohol, which we found strange. When we brought this up with the front desk, the staff did not seem surprised at all with the error or sought to verify the same anywhere nor were we given any apology for the mistake. It was as though she already knew that those 3 charges were unanauthorised transactions and said that the hotel would rectify the issue with the bank in respect of our deposit. The front desk was also very adamant to not let us speak to her manager about the issue. We just wanted to highlight the above because we would usually just trust the hotel to refund the right amount of deposit without checking, especially when using credit card to pay the same. But it may be worth checking when it comes to this hotel as based on the reaction which we got from the front desk, it seems that such mistakes whether intentional or not have happened before. We also hope that the hotel would do some sort of investigation into how issues like this...
Read moreWe spent one night in this property . The hotel is a standard 5 star city hotel in a provincial town , it presents as large and bland but very adequate for the needs of a one or two night stay . Check in and out was efficient and professional as was baggage handling. The room (2105) was spacious and well equipped . Sleep quality was excellent with sockets /and light switches close to both sides of the king size bed . The bathroom reflected the room and provided all the necessary toiletries some of which are pump action there is a tub as well as a powerful shower within its own cubicle. Housekeeping was good with good quality towels ( which are huge ) and bright white linen overall the property is very clean.there is breakfast available which I found to be mediocre in terms of quality , flavour and preparation a lot of cooked items ( fried eggs for example ) were stone cold or overcooked or undercooked( scrambled eggs which were very runny ) I spend a lot of time every year in five star hotels and this breakfast was definitely sub par fruit however was reasonable . Service was also hit and miss I wasn’t offered coffee or provided with a napkin not really 5 star standard - the staff however were mainly friendly . Additionally there is a wealth of other services , complimentary parking , gym sauna , meeting rooms etc, in short this is not a glitzy 5 star chain hotel like intercontinental or mandarine oriental but it ticks most of the boxes fora business...
