Le Cèleste席樂法式 — Restaurant in Taichung

Le Céleste was recommended by our friends and they told us it's the best spot with the most reasonable price for authentic French cuisine in Taichung.

The decor is elegant, modern, and classy with romantic ambiance. We love their open kitchen and enjoyed the cooking show during our dining there.

We were there for their lunch set and got entrees as below: Crispy Pork Knuckle, Pork Rib Eye Cap Steak, and 2 orders of Rib Eye Roll Steak. The lunch set came with bread, soup, salad, and dessert.

Everything was decent and our favorites were the Classic Cream of Mushroom Soup with Truffle and Crispy Pork Knuckle. The soup was creamy and rich with a strong taste of truffle. The pork knuckle was satisfying and soft inside with a crispy layer.

My stomach felt pretty bad as well as had a massive diarrhea because I ate the restaurant food. I asked the waiter to refill the bread, but she responded that the bread is limited today. Most of the high class French restaurant would have a chance to refill the bread, but not in this high class French restaurant. I told to the waitress about my steak should be medium rare, but the waiter bring it extremely raw steak. The waiter attitude should change because they didn’t serve it well. I usually cannot find a waiter to fulfill my glass of water. I ordered two meals which are about 5000 NTD. The food is not enough for a man. The overall evaluation which is over rated in google. Let me start off by saying, the service was abysmal and the staff really needs more training on food allergies. After the waiter took my order, he asked if we had any allergies, I told him that I was allergic to gluten and if I had any, I’d had to be sent to the ER. He assured me that the only item on the menu that had gluten was the French onion soup in the 2600 set menu. When the salad arrived, it had croutons, which were made of bread that contains gluten, then came some appetizers, it was also bread with butter, then the middle of the set there was PASTA, which is made of…. GLUTEN. I had to send it back. He apologized, but what if the point in asking about allergens when the staff doesn’t know what a gluten allergy is? Does the kitchen staff even what celiac disease is? If I had eaten it would you have paid my hospital bill? this really isn’t funny and I really wouldn’t advice anyone with any allergy to come eat here because the staff is extremely careless.
