Royal Host HSR Taichung Station — Restaurant in Taichung

I would say poor/terrible service, but the reality is that I was not even served! (April 26, 2025; 12:30).

I waited patiently by the "please wait to be seated" sign for several minutes. Four or five employees looked directly at me, then just ignored me. I still waited several minutes more. There were plenty of empty seats and the staff did not seem at all busy. My patience ran out at around ten minutes as the staff continued to look at me from time to time.

I've been here before, with friends, and found the food to be fine. As for service, at least we were seated at that time. It's that because my friends were Taiwanese? It makes one wonder if there is some kind of discrimination. I can speak Chinese and Taiwanese, so I can't think of any reason why I was not served.

Food is quite good, abit expensive for steak & prawns. Good meal before taking the HSR. They told us it would take 20 mins for the food to be served but in the end it was pretty quick, within 10 minutes for 2 set meals. Damage: 580 TWD for 6oz steak and 2 prawns, 140 TWD to make a meal with desert, soup and coffee. 470 TWD for a Japanese ish set meal, cubed steak with breaded prawns and soup + rice. Food tastes good. However, the staff training should be improved. We sat at the table close to the kitchen and kept hearing something dropping noise during the meal. One time the waiter even dropped the silverware ( fork? Maybe) on the floor near us. Somehow it is a little annoyed and ruined our mood...
