景美越南小吃 — Restaurant in Taipei

This place is a bit special and it helps to know what to order. I found the summer rolls lacking herbs, but then again the pho and banh mi are THAT good... The soup comes in something that looks like a glass salad bowl, which looks a bit funny but don't be fooled: the taste is seriously great, the noodles have a QQ texture and resemble more something like udon made out of rice flour rather than the usually flat pasta found in pho. The broth is very tasty and there is a good amount of bean sprouts inside, too. Just unfortunately - just like in most Vietnamese places in Taiwan - there's not much when it comes to fresh herbs. My favorite is definitely the banh mi though: crunchy and filled with fresh lettuce and herbs AND tasty cubes of fried tofu (if you order a custom vegetarian version at least). The first time I came here I was told vegetarian options of any kind are not available, but I was lucky the second time and a very friendly lady helped me prepare a probably even vegan sandwich. Don't miss the chili sauce on the table either, it's really really good, spicy and fruity and a bit tangy.
