Made a special trip from Taipei to have lunch at this place after viewing a promotion by a TV celebrity.
My expectation was set quite high by the promotion video. As a result, my rating reflects my impression that the food quality failed to meet expectation. Without the high expectation, my rating could possibly be three stars.
The famed steamed chicken was underwhelming as the flesh was not as tender as it should be. While this particular style of cooking relies on a dipping sauce made of scallion and oil, the best example of this dish made by others are flavorful without any sauce. The chicken offered here simply was not flavorful.
The goose was quite a bit better than the chicken as the flesh was tender and flavorful.
All the other dishes were mediocre and not worth commenting on. In fact, the braised pork was not up to par as it felt greasy.
