Wow this is another unexpected find for the Luroufan! I always thought I found the one I liked most and this came out and changed my mind! A short walk from the Metro station and guess this is not really a touristy place, it's more frequented by the locals and I could already smell it when I turned in from the alley. It was lunchtime and there was a queue but the service was quite efficient. I asked for some recommendations other than the Luroufan and was recommended to try some soups and sides. I ordered, paid and was brought to a table inside. It was hot outside on a summer but the interior was pretty comfortable. Food was served rather quickly and the moment I tried the Luroufan I was pretty awed by how good it was. Seriously nothing to fault, I enjoyed the soup as well the squid was probably made into something like fishball texture and it was very chewy and juicy. The beancurd was good but I felt the highlight was the gravy on the beancurd which was so thick and flavourful. Definitely worth a thumbs up and will...
Read moreI was initially hesitant to try the braised pork belly rice here after reading reviews that the rice they use is not the slightly sticky/gluey kind that I prefer, but I’m so glad I gave it a try!
The generous serving of sauce and layer of well seasoned minced pork went surprisingly well with the short grain rice which soaked up the flavours while remaining discrete and yet surprisingly moist. The braised hard boiled duck egg was a really great add-on as it was unexpectedly flavourful.
As is to be expected for such popular eateries, I arrived around 1225pm on a weekday and waited till 1240pm before I got a table. The nice lady at the entrance made the system of ordering, getting the queue number for the table, payment etc, very easy even for a...
Read moreFound it by pure chance searching for Lu Rou Fan on Maps, litterally at 50m from my hotel. There was a line outside, some ppl were just ordering takeout, others waiting to be seated. Menu only in Chinese but they can help you to choose with some English spoken. It’s better to have an idea of what to order in advance, checking the photos/reviews. After ticking your choices, they’ll give you a number and call for it when table is ready. You prepay before getting seated. The total wait was 15-20’, rather reasonable. Braised pork on rice is really delicious , egg also tasty, soup ok but would probably order some water spinach next time or tofu. Total “damage” NT$ 152, really worthy the little wait and totally understandable the popularity...
