On my first few visits (about 3 to 4 times) the food had been very authentic. I've tried the Nasi Lemak, the claypot rice, the Mee Goreng stir-fried noodles, and the laksa noodles, and everything was nice (being a Malaysian I feel qualified to say this) though the portions were very small. But, after the popularity of this restaurant suddenly skyrocketed in the recent years, the food started getting worse. On my most recent visit a few months ago, I ordered the Nasi Lemak with the dry chicken curry. Apparently the cooks started cutting corners: the sambal sauce wasn't as spicy or flavorful as it was before. The rice was alright, although the coconut milk flavor was not as pronounced. The main problem was the chicken: the sauce was way too sweet and the flavors from the spices were almost nonexistent. The flavor seemed to be altered to suit the Taiwanese palate, though I doubt if the curry was seasoned right. Only the skin had any flavor: the meat inside was bland without the sauce. When I cut into the bone, the meat around seemed a little red: it might be slightly undercooked, I suspect. The chicken seemed to be stewed for an inadequate amount of time: the cooks behind the counter had somehow messed up the chicken, or it was simply the result of an altered recipe. Anyways, the chicken should be the star of the dish, but it ended up as a mess that ruined the whole dish. The flavors seemed to drift away from the real...
Read moreCozy and clean spot for good Malaysian Food! Had so many tempting options on the menu but the portions were quite big and I could only order 2 dishes for myself. Had to take-away more than half of the soup I couldn’t finish either.
Malaysian Basted Meat Dry Wan Tan Noodles - Had a lot of meat and wontons. The noodle’s consistency was perfect and the gravy was flavorful. Basted meat was tender and juicy and the wontons were decent.
Malaysian Claypot Bak Kut Teh - Perfect for the cold & rainy day, but the pork ribs were not as tender as I was expecting them to be. Didn’t get pieces of spare ribs like in the photo on the menu but got bigger bones with tougher pieces of meat that are usually used to make bone broth. Flavor was quite light, but the soup had a lot of other meat (pork belly, intestine) and tofu.
Will definitely be back to try...
Read moreGood Malaysian food with quite a price. Start around 200nt and more, but the flavor is there. The chili sambal was good enough for me as Indonesian who eat spicy food. I order fried rice and fried chicken, i was surprised when the fried rice color is yellow and dont really have fried flavor in it, i prefer the coconut rice my friend order. The fried chicken shape is ball kinna shape, it looks like chicken nugget but i knew it was chicken thighs. The fried chicken itself not really flavorful but with chili sambal is all good. Drink was good. I got the white coffee, i cannot tell the difference between packaged coffees or fresh brewed coffee, so i just able to...
