We visited Jay's kitchen after hearing glowing recommendations from friends, and this place did not disappoint. We went for dinner during the Christmas holidays and hence were the only ones there - and had the whole restaurant to ourselves!
The food was excellent. We ordered the Chilly & Sweet Fried Chicken and Dakgaejang (spicy chicken soup). Although it took some time to prepare (we were the only ones!), the food was excellent. Beware, the soup was spicy, which means really spicy (even for someone like me with a high spice tolerance). Unfortunately, we didn't get to try their Kimchi as it was over.
It's the best Korean food I've had in Tanzania (even better than Seoul Garden in Dar es Salaam). The portion sizes were excellent. All this, plus a bottle of wine, for less than $30 (it's expensive compared to Tanzanian food but really great value for money compared to similar places in Dar).
The decor is also wonderful and elegant. The garden seating area is quite vibrant, while indoor seating is very well done with a mix of Korean and African adventure. The only puzzling thing about the decor were the large wall paintings on Dutch Coffee and a coffee filter (although not sure they even served such coffee here). Loved the world map with currencies of different countries stuck on it.
The staff were friendly and helped us in selecting our food and gave us their recommendations (including warning us that the Dakgaejang was quite hot and spicy). It truly deserves the "top rated" status on...
Read more🔥 Hidden Gem: Korean Barbecue in Moshi Town! 🇰🇷🇹🇿
Who would’ve thought that one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Tanzania would be a full-blown Korean barbecue in the heart of Moshi?
The place is tucked away just enough to feel like a secret, but once you're inside, it’s pure flavor heaven. The sizzling grill at the table, the aroma of marinated beef, garlic, and sesame oil — everything felt straight out of Seoul.
We ordered the classic bulgogi, spicy pork belly, and a generous helping of kimchi, and it came with all the proper banchan (side dishes) — crispy seaweed, pickled daikon, spicy cucumber, and more. The meat was perfectly marinated and grilled to juicy perfection right at our table.
But what truly made the experience special was the hospitality. The staff took time to explain the dishes, helped with the grill, and made us feel right at home. Plus, the view of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance as the sun set? Unreal.
If you're in Moshi and looking for something truly unique — this spot is a must-visit. It’s authentic, unexpected, and honestly unforgettable.
🌟 5/5 — Would fly back to Moshi just for this barbecue.

Read moreDidn't think I would find decent Korean food in Moshi! I ordered seaweed soup with squid, shrimp, and rice. The meal came with complimentary sides which can be refilled for free: cucumber, pickled greens, and peanuts. Kind of a more expensive restaurant than most in the area (this dish was 25,000 shillings or nearly 11 USD - that's the kind of price you find at midrange Korean restaurants in North America), so that's the only downside, but the food was high quality and authentic. The menu is extensive and you can find many Korean specialties. Way better than I expected in Moshi.
The outdoor dining space (a garden with an eating area) was very cute. It's located close to downtown Moshi and was right across the street from my hotel, so super convenient. The kitchen is bright and well-lit. There's also a selection of books you can browse while waiting for your food (a...
