The Pier Restaurant Kiwenga "Il Pontile" is a truly wonderful restaurant located right on the beach, built on a pier stretching out into the ocean – a beautiful and unique setting. The service is excellent, and you’re always greeted with a warm smile.

The food is absolutely fantastic. Every Swahili dish we tried from the menu was delicious and, by Kiwengwa standards, surprisingly well priced. The starters are also excellent – the mango-avocado salad is a standout, as is the grilled seafood. Even the fries, which are often quite soggy in other places around here, were the best we’ve had in Kiwengwa.

On top of that, the drinks – especially the beer – are sometimes half the price compared to nearby restaurants.

Il Pontile quickly became our favorite place to eat. By the end of our stay, it was the only restaurant we kept coming back to. Highly...

This is a must visit if you are in the area. The food was simply amazing- we had the seafood special. A basket of bread and guacamole, followed by a huge plate of tuna capaccio. The main dish was a monster platter of lobster (2types), crab, octopus, calamari, large prawns, rice , chips and all washed down with a bottle of wine and water. We barely had room for the fruit salad dessert that followed! All that for 30 dollars a head. Compared to what we received in our all inclusive hotel, we wished we had found it earlier and would have eaten here every night. The venue is rustic and charming. The staff, helpful and welcoming. Above all it is all pulled together by Henry, a local Tanzanian, who learned his trade in Italy. He couldn't have been any more welcoming. Thank you for a...

We came spontaneous for lunch. The food was delicious, and the view very nice. But the service could have been better, it didn't seem that guest orientated, the waitress could have been a bit more kind. What gave it all a negative taste is, that after we paid, we didn't get the change back. We paid in Tsh. I like to give a tip, when the service is good, that's not the problem, but it's for me a no-go, that you don't get offered your change back, so that you can decide, if you want to give a tip. Living for a while on this island, I witnessed that luckily just a few times, but it's just not a good behavior to do so. For that reason I wanted to give only 1 star for the service, but I just hope that they will improve, so I gave them 2 stars for the service. Let's see for...

Lovely quiet family run restaurant in kiwengwa. Me and my partner enjoyed a 3 course meal. The Swahili dishes were amazing and felt authentically cooked along with the chapatis. The ice creams tasted fresh and creamy and all was very reasonably priced around the 58 dollar mark for 3 course for two people with soft drinks. Great place to enjoy the sun go down and enjoy an evening meal. We walked along the beach from zanzibella hotel and felt safe doing so in the dark. If staying in the area worth the visit, they even have tables with glass bottoms so you can see the fish beneath your feet!

Had lunch today and I had the sea food mix. It was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend anyone to this friendly spot. The food is amazing and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. To the chef Moses or was it Moosa. 🙈, your food was 10/10 bro. The food might look like it's not enough but trust me I was filling, more than enough. The owner was so friendly and welcoming. We had a chat for about 20mins. Made me feel at home I didn't even want to leave. Keep up the great service guys. Thanks for the amazing hospitality. Much appreciated. God bless you guys
