A small, charming beachside restaurant in Zanzibar – a true hidden gem

This charming little restaurant in Zanzibar is an absolute winner. Located right on the beach, with your feet in the sand and a breathtaking view of the ocean — it doesn’t get more relaxed and authentic than this.

The food is simply sensational: super fresh, authentic, and made exclusively with local ingredients. From freshly caught fish to flavorful curries and crisp salads — you can taste the love and care in every bite. Insider tip: The lobster.

The service is just as impressive: attentive, warm, and delightfully laid-back. Value for money? Almost unbeatable. For what you get here, the prices are more than fair.

A true gem that shows how good, honest, and relaxed beachside dining can be. Highly...

I highly recommend visiting the La Banana Beach Restaurant. The people there are very nice, you may wait a little while for the food but that means its freshly made and it tastes very good so totally worth it.

Its a welcoming alternative to hotel food (which is also good). It feels more genuine, its local and its also good for your wallet. I for example had a lobster which tasted very good and was like 20 $ (a good price for a lobster) The location directly on the beach is...

What a wonderful find. Great little restaurant on the beachfront. A really relaxed place to enjoy a meal with good music in the background. Excellent position for us to watch football on the beach and kite surfing. We both agreed this was one of the best coconut milk curries we have ever had. Clearly everything freshly cooked so be prepared for a bit of a wait but I promise it will be worth it. Excellent value and...

What can I say? We had a private chef at the villa. And he was great. But Banana is different animal. The place is very simple. Everything is extremely local (good meaning). The meal is an absolute MUST TO. They don't have wine, but it was high level gastronomic experience. Our tip is local lobster and Zanzibar rice with prawns. And fish soup was more than WOW. Amazingly delicious compering EU standards.
