Usumba Rock Restaurant — Restaurant in Unguja

Black Americans do no visit here. Although we arrived at least 10 minutes before 3 other tables our drink took 30 minutes to come and the completely forgot my mother’s and daughter ‘s food and did not apologize for their mistake. The water and pina colada drinks were hot. The margaritas the service had no sour mix just lime juice. The obvious never tasted a true margarita before because it was an abomination. We asked for a check 3 times before we finally had to walk up to the counter to pay myself. We took a 5 minute walk across the beach on low tide but because they took so long to bring out check, high tide came and went we were force to pay $10 for a cab or work 30 minutes to get to our side of the beach. The view was okay and not worth the hassle. You will be better off trying one of the other 3 near by...

We discovered the restaurant on Google maps and we were so happy we stop by! The view is incredible both in low and high tide. The food is good and cheap and simple. We ate grilled lobster with side with 22 000 siling TZN. Very good service. Awesome place go stop by. The only downside is that grinks are not that cold. It's understandable since the resto is literarly on a rock and there is no faciness like in The Rock Restaurant Zanzibar in Pingwe. Also, do not confuse with Eden Rock Restaurant which is near. There is no washroom, just a clean Turkish style toilet. Although some may rate this place low due to the poor conditions, I believe it is great, considering the location, the tasty food...

Hear me out. This place has the potential to be amazing if the food service were a bit quicker. When there are a lot of people at the restaurant expect to wait around an hour for food. A good idea would be to place your order then go and head for a swim, thereafter, you can enjoy an aperitif (the beer is good) at the bar or restaurant while you wait. The food shouldn’t take away from the magnifique views you can expect to encounter here & I still feel like it’s a great place to add to your list just be mindful of the wait times - I know the staff are probably trying their best too! The calamari was a bit on the chewy side … I’ve had better elsewhere...
