🌟 Authentic Northern Thai Flavors in Chiang Mai 🌟
This place truly impressed me — not only with its authentic Lanna (Northern Thai) dishes, but also with the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
🍲 Food: Fragrant, Flavorful & Authentic The highlight was definitely the Kaeng Khae (แกงแค) 🌿 — a rich Northern Thai herbal curry packed with fresh local vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms. The broth was aromatic and refreshing, giving a real taste of the region. The Larb Kua (Northern-style minced meat salad) was wonderfully spiced, earthy, and paired perfectly with sticky rice and fresh vegetables. I also enjoyed the stir-fried local greens with egg, which was simple yet flavorful. Even the sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf added a lovely traditional touch to the meal.
💁 Service: Friendly & Genuine The staff were very kind, attentive, and even explained the dishes with a smile. It felt less like dining out and more like being welcomed into a local home.
🏞️ Atmosphere: Simple & Charming The setting was cozy and down-to-earth, full of local character. It’s not fancy, but it has that homey charm that makes the experience even better.
💰 Worth Every Baht What makes it even more special is that the quality and portion sizes are excellent for the price. It’s very reasonable and absolutely worth it — you get authentic flavors and generous dishes without overspending.
⭐ Final Verdict: If you’re in Chiang Mai and want to experience true Northern Thai food — especially the delicious Kaeng Khae — this place is a must-visit. Great food, warm service, authentic atmosphere, and excellent...
Read moreI had a great time at Han Teung Chiangmai, a cozy and fun place to enjoy some delicious Northern Thai food. The place was packed with locals and tourists, and there was a live band playing some catchy tunes. I loved the vibe of the place, it was very relaxed and friendly. The staff was super nice and helpful, and they brought our food quickly. The food was amazing, especially the Khao Soi, which was a spicy and creamy noodle soup with tender chicken. It was so flavorful and satisfying, I couldn’t get enough of it. I also tried the Larb Kua, which was a minced pork dish with lots of herbs and spices. It was very tasty and aromatic, and it went well with the sticky rice. For the dip, I ordered the Nam Prik Noom, which was a green chili paste that was spicy and smoky. It was perfect with the fresh veggies that came with it. I washed it all down with a cold Thai beer, which was refreshing and smooth. The price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food, I only paid around 200 baht for everything. The restaurant was easy to find, it was near Wat Umong and Chiang Mai University. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try some authentic Northern Thai food in a lively and casual setting. It was one of the best meals I had...

First off, the staff is very helpful in recommending a menu for you, so you won’t have any trouble trying to decide what to order from the many different dishes available. Just let them know your preferences.
We ordered the set menu, which lets you try a bunch of dishes that are local to the area - perfect for a tasting menu. If you are alone you could probably just go for this option alone with some rice.
Additionally we opted for the recommended seasonal mushroom soup and a steamed pork dish.
There is also free water you can have from the counter (not the bottles on your table), which is perfect since you are also served with a bucket of ice.
The service was extremely fast during our noon visit.
In terms of food, all the dishes in the set menu were fantastic, especially the sausage. The green chili with crispy pork skin was also a great combo. The mushroom soup had a really earthy taste, and these kind of mushrooms were kinda hard/chewy which may surprise you.
All in all it was a great place to go experience northern Thai cuisine in a secluded and...
