The Hideaway — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Very positive experience here--we have been living here for 1 years. We ate lunch at this restaurant for the first time--the menu is extensive so we ordered the red wine steak sandwich on homemade Foccacia and Thai Krap Pow Pork. We were impressed at the quality of the food. Some reviewers may think at first glance prices are more expensive than the super cheap restaurants here in CM but one needs to keep in mind that when prices are more, especially with this restaurant the QUALITY IS WONDERFUL. Steak in the sandwich was good portion, home fries potatoes were home made, thai food was offered with a choice of brown or white jasmine rice. Food was super clean. Bathroom is super clean and well maintained. Service is friendly and they offer filtered water without charge. So really you are paying a little more for better quality, cleaner food and much cleaner restaurant. They also sell home made bagels, bread, crumpets, and ...

Food & Beverage : Very extensive menu , took a minute plus to scroll thru and we couldn't decide what to eat. Western , Thai , Mexican ... U get everything here.

Wife had kuakai , a garlicky stir fried rice noodle with chicken. Closest Malaysian dish would be char kuay teow without the black sauce. Probably the best we had so far. Noodles not sticking together and just enough oil. Chicken well marinated so the dish was flavourful throughout.

I had Taco Salad with grilled chicken. The Mexican rice is so good and tasty . Guac , sour cream and salsa all well made. Grilled chicken well marinated also. Very enjoyable meal.

Ice cappuccino is with milk froth so not creamy but a nice light iced coffee to enjoy.

Sorry to say but it was the worst Christmas dinner I've ever had in my life. I sat down and gave him the order for turkey and all the trimmings coffee pumpkin pie etc. I waited for about 20 or 25 minutes and notice at their other people are getting up and leaving and a couple that came in after me it got served and I'm still waiting for Christmas dinner. So I went up to the manager and said you know I'm still waiting for my dinner and she told someone to fetch me my dinner and they said it only be 5 minutes the turkey was in strips and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. I ate the mashed potatoes some of the turkey and then waited for my coffee and my pumpkin pie which never did arrive I got tired of waiting got up paid my 500 bots and departed. Big...
