Passed by this restaurant on canal road and thought I give it a try. When entered the restaurant I was the only person. Just a cat and a dog inside. The menu is pretty substantial and slightly confusing. I ordered the nachos with salsa and a chilli cheese dog. Nachos arrived after a good 15-20 min. At that time the owner (service was out for a walk with the dog). Chef brought the dish to the table with two big kitchen gloves as the plate came freshly out of the oven. Taste was good. Chili cheese dog came 15minutes later. Same procedure of service. Bready was pretty old and soggy. Not able to cut (knives also not sharp). Sausage was ok but the chilli way too dry. Some cheese on it but not much flavour. Atmosphere overall ok but there is this constant high pitch noise from the fan that desperately needs a drop of oil. Overall, service not very interested, food hit and miss and not much care of interior. Some people would be concerned about cats and dogs walking around the restaurant but I will close my...
Read moreA Saturday lunch at The Mexican Grill. Well, we were the only customers. We started with some potato skins, then my wife had soft fish tacos and I tried the Blacken fish with beans & rice. We wanted a margarita but it’s a Buddha day so no alcohol could be sold. We settled for Coke Zero. The restaurant was clean but a little cluttered. The service was quite good.
Having lived in Texas and Mexico for two decades, I’m pretty critical of TexMex cooking, but after reading some of the reviews we were expecting some really good food. First to arrive, the potato skins with freshly cooked, fresh sour cream, and and a nice green salad. They were terrific along with the homemade salsa we liberally applied to our skins.
The mains arrived and were both delicious, my fish portion was a little small, so we added guacamole and chips to finish the meal. The guacamole was freshly made, and the chip were still warm.
Great meal all in, we recommend if you’re in the market for TexMex this...
Read moreNot a bad place at all, staff was friendly and the vibe was cool despite there being a large party there. I’m just rating this purely based on the quality of the food. The food looks really good, but it just didn’t taste that great. It’s not particularly bad, but it’s nothing to write home about. The pork taco wasn’t good, and the chicken taco was a little bit better but not great. The chicken enchilada was okay. The beans and rice were good, but that’s not hard to get right.
We also got nachos which were okay, but for 225 baht they could have been better for sure. Perhaps some queso cheese could have done the trick there. Problem is they put the ground pork on this as well, and there’s nothing authentic about ground seasoned pork when it comes to Mexican food.
I’d like to try their burrito and see if the flavor is...
