Raan Khanomjean — Restaurant in Chiang Rai Province

It had been a while since my last visit to this amazing restaurant. I visited it in March, 2024. The owners, a lovely couple, are truly wonderful souls. I visited with a friend late in the evening, and although they were likely about to close, they graciously welcomed us in. Despite the language barrier, they chatted with us, sharing their life experiences and suggesting nearby places to visit.

They even prepared vegetarian versions of their local dishes, which were incredibly flavorful and reminded me of home.

I love Thai food. Unfortunately, this place doesn't taste like Thai food. First of all, it's pretty bland, practically tasteless. I'm not a professional chef, but even I can make better chicken. The chicken here doesn't look like the picture on the menu and it's just pretty dry, boiled chicken (the menu says fried, it tastes exactly like boiled). I give one star to the low prices, one to the large portions, and one to the friendly owners of the restaurant. It would be great if the food...

This is our second time to come here for lunch. We like home-styled cooking. And the chief fries well and the vegetables are fresh. The dish we ordered is 50 baht each. Although they cannot speak English much, they have menu in English and we can communicate with Google translate. And I can ask them to slightly adjust the dish by adding more vegetables...
