A TAXING EXPERIENCE

Popped in here as it is a jazz bar plus about the only place near where we were staying that was open with entertainment.

Ordered a 250bht Mai Tai and a 50bht Coke so 300bht.

It was a pay there and then but the bill was 353bht I.E. 300bht plus tax that was not mentioned at time of ordering. Nearly an 18% bump.

I’m glad I hadn’t been eating and drinking all evening based on the menu price and got hit by that at the end.

And before the responder says it’s written on the menu. Who actually reads anything on a menu beyond the fayre and prices?

Plus with the waitress hovering at the table edge to take our order we didn’t feel in a position to read every word on the whole document. Yes, next time I will ask the waitress to give us a few minutes.

I’ve never had tax added to a drinks or food bill before in Thailand. No doubt the tax is normally included in the displayed price so why not follow the norm?

However the jazz band were brilliant and partially made up for the bill...

I recently visited Barmony Jazz Bar & Restaurant and had an amazing experience! The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, with a great balance between elegance and comfort. The live music was top-notch — talented musicians created a truly magical vibe throughout the night.

The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Every dish was full of flavor, and the cocktails were exceptional — fresh, creative, and professionally made. The staff were very friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed and cared for.

Very good food, I ordered Mexican Fries which is French Fries tops with cheese and some kind of bbq sauce, very tasty and served in a nice warm dish.

The music here is not very jazzy as I expected since I saw their advertisement before the restaurant open said to be a jazz bar.

Not very busy even on Friday’s night.

Staffs are nice and welcoming, as soon as you parked your car they will come out and greet which is very warm welcoming.
