Good Old Sea, Beach Café — Restaurant in Chon Buri Province

It's lovely to see new places opening during these difficult times. This spot is literally right at the beach's edge. Walk through the grounds of the Botany Beach Resort and it's there on the left.

Service is excellent with staff comfortable in both Thai and English.

Before 10:00 there are only breakfast options available but they're very satisfying, well presented and reasonably priced too.

The items coming out after 10:00 looked wonderful but we didn't get to sample any of them. That'll have to be another day.

Unfortunately they have a very outdated electronic payment policy. No credit cards under 2,000 baht

After 2 more visits I must review my rating down.

Lunch for 2 was nice, served by staff who outnumbered customers by 3 to 1. The food was good and service polite.

The latest visit was completely awful: the staff was unable to describe some of the drink options (excusable if they went to get someone that could, but didn't)

Coffees were initially served in paper cups. Reason given is that they might run out of porcelain cups. Not ok. Get more cups.

The 3 of us ordered eggs Benedict on sour dough toast. The place was not busy but this was clearly too much for the kitchen to deliver (remember that they only serve breakfast items before 10:00). The 3 plates arrived with the eggs cold and the bread not having seen a toaster.

We asked for them to be redone but the staff had to call the manager who took them away in a huff. When they were returned to us, the eggs were, again cold to the touch (poached eggs obviously kept too long in ice water after cooking). When we pointed this out to the manager he got quite shirty and told they were freshly made. He then snatched my plate, made overt gestures of running to the kitchen and then back with "fresh" eggs. Very poor taste for the manager to act like that towards customers.

Will certainly not be back at there was no apology or acceptance of issues. His behaviour was completely...

The Decor has changed and is nice

Bean bags are clean but not all

Service has become better. some staff is really good. Others are mostly on phone. Working hours phone should not be allowed .

Food quality is POOR. i think they should sack the chef and get a new team for cooking

Food was served cold and the chef was called by me and she showed surprise 😲

Also, on Saturday and Fridays they know they will have more customers but the restaurant does not have a back up plan. 45 mins waiting time for all orders is what they say. food actually comes in 1 hour or more

Really badly managed place

..................................................................... In my last review I had criticised lots of points. But if some place improves then should give them the credit.

This cafe is located in the best view ON THE SEA BEACH. They have improved their decor and some of the staff was much more eager to serve which is good sign.

I am sure. more customers will come and see the change.

only one suggestion, they should get all bean bags and seats cleaned as most of them are dirty

I don't like the plastic sign that "if you gave out 5 stars review on Google, you will get a free gift". I can see each table have this sign on them. How can we trust the reviews then? I have Beach vacation place nearby and often hop around try new café and restaurants in my area. The surrounding areas looks nice. The burger is 2/5 bun and patty not very good quality. The Thai dish lack of aroma of spices and bland. The price will top up 10% service charge above 600+ they still not accept credit card. I have to paid cash. This place is in a big hotel resort. I'm quite surprised that no credit card is accept even the local bank issued credit card. There's no service, they not even take my order to my table, not many people on the weekday. I had to point out my dish then one guy picked up and put in front of me.. Already less warm. I don't know how long it was been out of the kitchen but no staff paid any attention to it. They love grouping gossipy together. I asked for fresh squeeze juice, it was none. He said juice came in the bag. So, I didn't order those...
