I recently had the pleasure of visiting Cave at the Beach in Pattaya, and I must say that the overall experience left me with mixed feelings. Let me start by highlighting the positive aspects of this establishment, as they certainly deserve recognition.
First and foremost, the atmosphere at Cave is simply amazing. Nestled right by the beach, the location provides a stunning view of the ocean, which creates a serene and relaxing ambiance. The interior design is tastefully done, with a rustic charm that perfectly complements the coastal setting. Whether you're dining inside or opting for an al fresco experience, the surroundings truly enhance the overall enjoyment of the place.
Now, let's talk about the menu and cocktails. The selection of dishes offered at Cave is both diverse and delectable. From fresh seafood to mouthwatering thai dishes, there's something to satisfy every palate. The presentation of the food is impeccable, and the flavors are exquisite. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients are evident in every bite. Moreover, the cocktail menu is a work of art, featuring an array of unique and creative concoctions that are expertly crafted. Whether you prefer classic favorites or innovative blends, Cave has you covered.
Unfortunately, the stellar atmosphere, menu, and cocktails are overshadowed by the subpar service I experienced during my visit. Despite the potential this place holds, the service was undeniably disappointing. Upon entering, I never received a warm greeting or any acknowledgment from the staff. It felt as though I was an invisible guest, which is disheartening when you're hoping for a memorable dining experience. Moreover, it took an unnecessarily long time for someone to take my order, leaving me waiting and wondering if my presence had been forgotten.
It's truly unfortunate that Cave falls short in the area of customer service because with a little improvement, this place could easily become a go-to spot for both locals and tourists alike. When patrons visit a restaurant, they expect not only exceptional food and ambiance but also attentive and welcoming service. Regrettably, this is where Cave at the Beach currently falls short.
In conclusion, Cave at the Beach in Pattaya offers an incredible atmosphere, a diverse and delicious menu, and expertly crafted cocktails. However, the lackluster service greatly detracts from the overall experience. The absence of a warm greeting and the delay in taking orders leaves a lot to be desired. With some attention to improving their service, Cave has the potential to become an outstanding destination for...
Read moreThe restaurant have great view and the food menu got very good selections of great choices. Great for drinks and relax by the beach. There is a lot of good things to say about this restaurant. I live in London and I always bragged about how good the services in Asia especially in Thailand, most of the places staffs are always warm, polite and friendly and always willing to help. But this restaurant is the first time leave a bitter taste in my mouth when it come to service. We came at the early lunch time and got the table immediately and everything look good, order was taken very shortly and 1st dish arrived soon after. But that was the end of good bits, the rest of the orders take ages to arrived and the 1st dish is now cold when everything was received. The prices is not cheap by Thailand standards and I can understand the fact that busy lunch time can get hectics for staffs. But my main issues was the attitude of the staffs. Try to order more drinks and desserts etc was relatively difficult as the staffs don’t want to respond to the questions and they just bluntly walk off for a few time. We had booked spa treatments near by and asked to cancelled the one of the desert and asked for the bill again the waiting staff didn’t answer or explained, around 10mins of asked the bill came to take the bill. Realised that desert wasn’t taken off the menu at that point my wife is nagging me to get to spa so as we are now running late so I told the staff I will settled the bill and again she just walk off with my credit card with no explanation or answer and disappeared for over 5 minutes. Finally I had enough so called the manager near by and asked what is happening, he managed to track down the waitress and she finally come back with the new bill “ deducted the desert “and the payment on the card have been made without my knowledge. 1st time in Thailand I have received this kind of service I was amazed. But on the other notes some of the customers “ a group of young western women “ were harassing the staffs forced the staffs to take pictures and making a big scene and taking some of the cringiest photos. Being Asian myself I am very sympathetic for the staffs but for the price they charged and receiving the service like that not good for restaurant. I hope the restaurant take notes and improved and train the staffs adequately. Hope this review help to decide whether to...
Read moreMixed group of Thai and foreigners (10 people) came to Cave for a friend's birthday meal. We'd reserved a large beach front table.
Venue looks great but unfortunately service was all over the place. On arrival no menus where bought to the table, and no staff were seemingly working on the beach so had to go find menus from other tables. Menus also confusing as seems to be 3 different food menus all available at once.
Food started to arrive 30mins after ordering, which was great, but drinks order was still nowhere to be seen. We asked for water repeatedly (Thai and English) without any response from staff. In the end we had to walk up to the bar and plead for someone to please, please bring us water, which eventually arrived at the table half way through dinner. Wine bottles arrived at the table unopened without bottle opener. Again had to walk up to the bar from the beach to ask for a bottle opener and open ourselves.
Food was decent quality when it arrived, especially the Thai dishes (winged bean salad with shrimp was excellent!) but again food arrived without any cutlery or dishes to actually eat. Took another 10mins to get some forks. A lot of the food was cold by this point.
Overall, they've spent a lot of time and money on making the venue Instagram pretty, but not enough time training their staff properly, instigating a functional service system or simply communicating effectively between teams.
Bill came to about 11,000THB which was on the high side, as we'd not ordered a huge amount of food given the size of the group, but yet again repeated requests for the bill just fell on deaf ears, and had to walk up to the bar to pay. By this time we'd walked up and down from the table to bar 6 times!
The service was just so bad that I doubt we'll return. Next time we'll probably go to Glass House or one of the other beach clubs nearby as they're always good on all fronts! Shame because Cave could be a great venue but unfortunately currently scores 2/5 stars and that's...
