La Taverna — Restaurant in Ko Kaeo

I ate here twice with my dad: the first time, my red Thai curry was amazing; the second time, my shrimp cake starter and squid main were tasteless and far too chewy.

My dad said his lasagne (his second meal) was "ok but not great", so it wasn't just me.

I'm unsure if it's because there are different chefs or if I just ordered the wrong thing!

Service was good and the menu has a wide variety of European and Thai. Was open on a Sunday, when the majority of the other restaurants in the area were closed.

There's not much choice for Thai food in the lagoona and I would hope that my second meal was the exception rather...

Not going back. Management of orders / drinks / bill accuracy in disarray. Seems to think it is ok to deliver my daughter's meal half an hour after everyone has finished. Happening to other tables as well. Food and drink sits on serving counter getting cold/hot whilst staff walk past and stare at it (but don't have the intellectual bandwidth to compute that it needs to be taken to a table). I had a lovely lunch here with a friend and was very pleased to find several options for a vegan diet. Our server was friendly and easy to talk to, and the food came out quickly.

I ordered the pizza with vegetables and removed the cheese. Their pizza bread with rosemary was delicious and so fresh! I also indulged in the pasta with olive oil and garlic and enjoyed every last bite. The meal was rounded out by a mango shake.

I’ll happily come back another time to try more well prepared...
