We went on the Phi Phi XL tour. Our pickup at 540am was right on time. Driver asked for our printed ticket, we didn't have one, but showed him the ticket confirmation and that was good enough.
Transport to one other hotel to pick up other passengers, then headed to Royal Marina. Arrived at the marina, had a light breakfast, waited around about 30 minutes, were briefed by our tour guide Lucky, then boarded the speed boat. The seas were a bit rough according to the captain, but nothing more than a bit of a jostle every now and then.
We arrived at our first snorkel site. The company's snorkel equipment (mask, snorkel, fins, life jacket) were all in great condition. My 11 year old son and I were a bit nervous, as it was our first time snorkeling in the ocean, and Lucky made us feel super comfortable and confident. First snorkel lasted about 30 minutes. We saw lots of little fish and beautiful corral.
The tour headed into the lagoon. We jumped off the front of the boat into the deep water and swam to the beach shoreline. There is no corral here due to a tsunami in 2004. So there is not much to see under the water, pretty cloudy. Watch out for the little bitting fish here. All three of us were bitten multiple times by these little buggers.
Then we drove to Phi Phi Don island. Lucky gave us the option to hike to the viewpoint or have a beach stay. We opted to stay in town and look at the shops with a smoothie in hand. I cannot comment how the view was, other than everyone looked exhausted on their return to the boat. We shopped in town for about an hour then boarded the boat to head to our next destination.
Second snorkel site was about 2 minute drive from Phi Phi Don. Great site. Lots of fish and corral. We got to snorkel for about 30 minutes here. No other boats near by at this location.
Lastly, we went to Bamboo island for lunch and swimming. It was high tide and the surf was quite rough. The first 3-5 feet of the water with the tide is lined with lots of corral. This was very rough to walk through and banging up on our legs. After you are about waist deep the coral was no longer an issue. Lunch here was great. We had about an hour and a half to relax or swim. We swam and it was enjoyable.
I was very hesitant to book a tour due to many of them having reviews all across the board. I wish we had booked the tour earlier and had time to venture to Krabi or James Bond with this company. I would 100% recommend this tour and...
Read moreI will never use this company again! After my shoes went missing from their boat, the staff manager-tour guide- David the tour booker called my a liar and said that I can't prove I had my shoes when coming onboard. This is what happened, we took a tour to Surin and a couple snorkling tours for the day. They made us all take our shoes off at the beginning of the tour. They threw everyone's shoes in a big garage bag. Then apparently when we got to the national island to have lunch, they threw everyone's shoes on the pier and said if you want to wear shoes here they are. At this point I was already off the boat walking down the pier, So I never saw this. When the trip ended we all gathered once again on the pier to collect our shoes mine was not there. I asked the tour guide to find my shoes she and the crew looked and my shoes were not found. Tour guide got accusatory with me. I went to manager he basically called me a liar and told me to prove I had the shoes I was missing. These are the only orthopedic flip flops I had for two weeks to wear and this was the first day of my vacation. I wear a size 12 shoe so I just can't go buy another it's not that simple for me. My husband called the tour booker David he said he would look into it, came back with the same answer , no proof I had them. Awful customer service, they said no when I asked them to purchase me a new pair because they don't have the money to do that- this is a million dollar company that made tons of money on my tour alone. I am spreading the word because no tourist deserves to be called a liar nor treated like this after spending tons of money on the tour. Julie Shepard
Here we go again. A persons who was not present at the time when this mishap happened is calling me a liar with his response. How do you know David what was said when you weren't even there. Just goes to show you how your company operates. Telling me I never had the shoes and to prove it is...
Read moreWe were looking for a snorkeling tour to see some beautiful corals and fish. For some reason there are not many tours snorkeling heavy. Similan islands is an early bird tour, be ready to wake up early, we lived on Bang Tao, so they picked us up at 5:15am and it took an hour and a half to get to the pier by van. You can either sleep on the way there or enjoy the sunrise. The meeting point is their wow thing, amazingly beatiful place with the view to the mangrove forests. After a very light breakfast (toasts with jam, butter, fruits and some drinks) you get on board (they take your shoes and give only after you come back to the pier). There were two boats going together, each had 30-35 people. It takes one hour to get to the islands and being the first ones is really cool as after some time it got too crowded on every spot we visited. They give you a plenty of time to enjoy the place, you can either swim, chill on the beach or climb the view point. Water was truly amazing with some really cool fish, but corals were mostly dead. One can meet a turtle at the first snorkeling point, but it was kinda sad to look at it, as the guides were feeding it to keep it close to the boat so tourists can swim with it. The team of the boat was okay, they were nice, but nothing extraordinary, the guide didn't push to create entertaining atmosphere (as some others we met did), he was just polite. Lunch was provided in the lunchboxes (three boxes for every person) and we couldn't finish it, delicious. They had a very good choice of drinks on the boat. We were nicely surprised when they provided farewell gift bag with cookies, juice and water, we enjoyed it on our way back to hotel. In general, I would recommend going with them as so far it was the most snorkeling tour we could...
