Setting was lovely. Ordered Caipirinha to drink having been assured it was a long drink - it came in a short drink glass. Unfortunately there are 2 Shanti Shanti restaurants within 2 miles of each other and after 3 weeks in Thailand was looking forward to a burger & fries. Unfortunately this one didn't do burgers, only Thai food. So decided to wait another day for the burger & ordered some food. Chose chicken wings as a starter and when they came they had split one part of the chicken wing in two, so they where very small, thin bits of wing totalling 5 pieces. They didn't taste of a n ything and worked out as the most expensive chicken wings we have ever had anywhere in the world! When asked if I wanted the main course, penang curry spicy, to which I said yes, it turned up and was the mildest I've had in all my visits to Thailand. Other dishes were average. Unusually for Thailand, the service lacked warmth, but this could be explained due to the waitress being european rather than Thai, so overall a...
Read moreThe BEST Thai food my girlfriend and I have had in Thailand so far. Came back to this place every day we stayed in Koh Lanta. It’s that good. The ingredients are super fresh and the food is so clean that even after stuffing ourselves we never felt a food hangover like you might get with other types of food. We found out the owners are French and Thai from the north east of Chiang Mai and Chiang Raí. If you love food Chiang Mai is also a must visit and it was amazing to have those quality flavors while on an island. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting some great food while in Koh Lanta. The price is a bit higher than some of the other road side spots around but it is completely worth it! Remember that you get what you pay for. Get the laap spicy minced chicken/pork, the Tom Yum Kung and papaya salad. We also tried the curry and fried rice which were phenomenal!...
Read moreMy fiancé and I ate here after driving past and seeing how busy it was the night before. We rocked up on the scooter and saw they were fully booked but the owner who was sat outside greeted us anyway and said because we were quite late in the evening, she would go and look inside and see what she could do for us anyway. Totally unexpected and a lovely gesture in itself. She showed us to a table round the side which she described was more for sunset drinks but we didn’t mind at all and accepted. We are so glad we did. This was the best meal we’ve yet had on our travels and find ourselves comparing every meal we eat to Shanti Shanti! Not only is the (local style) food amazing, but they have fantastic imported wines, which isn’t always an easy combination to find when travelling Thailand. Thank you for your hospitality and amazing food! We hope to return...
