Sole Mare Italian Pizzeria & Restaurant — Restaurant in Ko Lanta Yai

We went here to try the pizzas. We have not tried other pizza places on Koh Lanta, so we cannot compare it to other places.

We had the margherita pizza and the contadina pizza. The margherita pizza looked like a standard cheese pizza. None of the patches to red, white, and green one typically sees from a margherita. Otherwise, the crust was thin and the edges crispy. The crust was the the same for the contadina, and it tasted fine as well. Both pizzas were relatively decent. The bruschetta all’ aglio and mozzarella more closely resembled garlic bread with cheese instead of a more toasted and crispy bread that one associated with a traditional bruschetta. But, it tasted fine. The best dish was the calzone del golozone. The crust was flaky and soft, and the cheese was well melted. I would recommend the calzone. We visited after reading good reviews on Google but left feeling very confused as to why it is rated so highly. On arrival we were seated at a table covered in ants, when I pointed this out to my partner the waiter noticed and did absolutely nothing. I had the fresh truffle pasta that was both disgusting and not fully cooked and my partner had a seafood pizza that was covered in grease and with some very foul tasting prawns. Once the food had been served we were asked 4 times in 5 minutes by multiple staff members if our food was okay, it started getting really quite annoying. The restaurant wasn't very busy so most of the staff were sat around and there didn't seem to be any coordination about who would do what. First review was from 3 years ago. We came back yesterday and still a great place for pizza and Italian food! Took a Pizza Frutti di Mare that was superb and the Negroni tasted delicious Really Recomend! Great pizza! Really great from own oven. I had a quattro stagioni with extra eggplant thar was superb, got some spiced oil to pour over it, nice. My wife had chicken sallad with extra feta cheese and took some extra olivoil on it and was more than pleased. My 10 year daughter har lasagna that she appriciated greatly, my 8 and 6 year's old daughters shared ham and cheese pizza that they really enjoyed, but bit to small for two hugry girls to share though.
