We spent 3 months on Koh Lanta and this was the very first local restaurant that we ate in. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the price is great for the amount of food you receive. Over the 3 months we ate here almost everyday, at least once a day! Our go to meals were, the fried rice with butter, fried rice with chicken, pad thai, and the grilled chicken. The family that runs the restaurant are such nice people, so warm, friendly and welcoming. When the restaurant is busy at dinner time, there can be a bit of a wait, but you have to remember that you're not in Europe etc, where you have trained waiting staff to serve you. So just be a bit patient 😉 Now as we continue our travels around SE Asia we think of this place everyday because we miss the family, who became our friends during our time there and we haven't enjoyed the local food anywhere, as much as we did here. If you do go here, please tell Pam that Laura and...
Read moreI’m an honest guy: It seems like this place has huge potential; the food produced is genuinely delicious. However, the service just isn’t up to scratch. Specifically, you’re constantly left with the uneasy feeling that you’re going to have to hunt for someone if you want anything, which, when you think about it, is why you go to a restaurant in the first place. I mean to say, you go to a restaurant when you want something. A restaurant’s raison d’être is precisely this. I understand that it might be a cutesy family-type setup, and that makes it incredibly endearing. However, if i feel constantly anxious about when I’m going to be able to order something, this negates the delicious food etc. I’m currently ordering a “fried chicken baguette” back at my resort; clearly this is an inferior option, but, I can depend on its arrival, hence my being here and not there. An...
Read moreAte here two lunches and one evening in our five night stay in the area. Food consistently good and prices, especially for alcohol, very competitive. The bamboo shoot salad and laab were especially good. Shame that the G&T comes in a plastic lidded cup and straw, not good for the environment. Also agree it can be difficult to get service, on one occasion we ordered drinks and food, the drinks arrived and the lady then left on a motorbike. Someone from the kitchen served the food but when I asked her for another drink nothing happened for 10 minutes and a phone call after which the original woman arrived to...
