Lanta DD House — Hotel in Ko Lanta Yai

Our main objective in koh lanta was scuba diving so this place was perfect! A 20 min walk from the pier or a short tuk tuk ride. He rooms were clean, with comfortable beds and water every day. We got hit with a bad storm when we were there but the staff was great! We ended up extending our original 6 night stay to 10 nights, due to weather and scuba diving but this was a great place for all that. The location is fine with a bunch of restaurants within walking distance or within a 10 min walk. There is a 7-Eleven on the main road a minute away too. He beat beach was perfect for us as well. Not too busy but very pretty. The only knock about the location is that is far from Long Beach, so if you want to party or see more of the island it will involve many tuk tuk rides (about 100 bhat each way). You could rent a motorbike but if drinking not advised. Note the accommodations in Long Beach are considerably more but it depends what you want and your budget. ||So in short it depends on what you want and you budget. I loved my stay in Koh Lanta and I have to say this is part of the reason why. Our room was modern, huge bed, flat screen tv (not that we needed it), large en suite bathroom - everything you need for a low price!||The host is lovely - changes the sheets and towels everyday without needing to ask ( sometimes in the lower cost places they're reluctant to), we also lost our key in the sea and the host made no fuss and replaced our key!||The location is brilliant. On edge of the main road - not too close that the place is loud though. Right next to a 7/11 for all your basic needs. A few hundred yards away from the beach - which is so lovely and quiet. Not far from good restaurants - can highly recommend the sisters restaurant further up the road (which is on TA) as we spent most lunches and nights dining there and were never disappointed. Can equally say koala bar on the beach is also worth visiting. We spent a week at this clean little five room family run hotel.||Pros: good price, clean, 400 meters from the beach, close to restaurants and bars, quiet, friendly and helpful staff, they rent scooters cheaper than many places nearby, free fast internet||Cons: not any worth mentioning||During our stay there was quite a srorm which blew some of the roof off the building. The heavy rain soaked the inner roof paneling and some fell into our washroom. Within minutes our landlady called a nearby hotel and booked us a room, she drove us to this hotel and brought us to the room herself apologizing all the while for this inconvenience. The next day she picked us up from this hotel and set us up in another room at her hotel for the rest of our stay.||She could have been more helpful. Three after the storm all damage inside and out...
