Black Coral — Restaurant in Krabi Province

The worst food we have had in Thailand since we arrived over 3 weeks ago (and by a country mile - ironically one of the most expensive too!). The waitress was very friendly and attentive which got us off to a good start, plus the decor/ambience was great too, however disaster struck once the food arrived as it was abysmal. My girlfriend ordered the mussels, which were dry and withered & clearly not fresh - either frozen for too long or massively over cooked (?). I ordered the spicy Tom Yum soup & was served a broth of hot water with meat & veg - no spice in sight. We read other reviews in advance of going this evening (unfortunately nowhere else along the beach was open) and noted the owners response to the recent negative reviews & therefore mentioned our issues to enable them to rectify the issue, but all that happened was me being told my dish was indeed a “spicy Tom Yum soup” and given some chopped up chilli’s on a side plate. It’s a real shame as they seem to have everything else going for them but for the food - over 750 THB for 2 woeful dishes and a drink each is way off the mark - avoid...

We just tried to dine here, not sure why when it didn’t even feel friendly from the start but we was hungry so we thought we would try anyway. After an hour waiting and watching other people get their food before us, even though they came in after, we politely asked if our meal was coming. No one came back to tell us if it was coming or not, and then another 10 minutes later our waitress came back to say they were cooking it now and it would be 5 minutes… when they finally bought it out, the order was wrong. To be honest, it didn’t look great given the price anyways, so maybe a blessing in disgust, but she may have got it right if she was actually listening to us when we made the order rather than shouting across the restaurant to another member of staff. We told them to leave it, and we would go elsewhere. Cheek of it is that they forced us to pay for the drinks and shouted at us outside on the beach in front of everyone that it wasn’t their fault and it was ours??? I wouldn’t mind but I didn’t even drink my drink because that was wrong too! What an absolute shambles. We do not recommend...

I got the bratwurst, mash potatoes and sauerkraut for 180 Baht. I was excited to try this but unfortunately it was not as expected. The sausage was bad, tasted and looked like a large chicken Frankfurt. Looked nothing like the menu photo. I did try give the sausage to a local dog so not to waste it and even he didn't eat it 😬 The mash seemed like box puree mash potatoes. They did have a free salad buffet and some of that was tasty. The coleslaw had two bugs in it which unfortunately put me off trying more. The glass of wine was charged 10 baht more than what the menu price said. Overall I won't...
