บ้านอาม่า - Baan Ama — Restaurant in Mai Khao

Truly delicious local food served by effiecent and friendly staff. The open air flow through concept in this restaurant was immediately appealing upon entering Baan Ama. As the name implies, Baan Ama or " Grandma's House" specializes in local, homemade Phuket area dishes. I ordered several local dishes and was not disappointed. My favorite was the moderately spicy Hot and Sour Shrimp soup with fried Climbing Wattle. Not nearly as daunting as the name implies , the tasty shrimp soup has squares of fried omelet made with leaves from the sennegalia pennata tree , floating in the broth surrounded by the shrimp. The omelet tastes similar to a spinach omelet but with it's own unique flavor. Soooo yummy!! Baan Ama can make more common Thai dishes as well but their creativity with local, unique dishes should prompt people in that direction. 👍. Review my pictures for this and my other selections. All dishes taste so delicious!! We really enjoy the dinner tonight very much. The restaurant is a very clean wood house, with elegant placemat for everyone. The owner has good taste of music, and we enjoy the music during our dinner.

Excellent, authentic Thai food in a relaxing and comfortable setting. Green curry was superb. Very reasonable prices, lower than most places nearby (around 100THB for most main dishes).
