Sunshine Restaurant — Restaurant in Mai Khao

I thought this restaurant was the best restaurant I visited in Thailand! My dad said that the owner is the best CEO. Our whole family members loved this restautant, so we went there all three days in Maikao!

Amazing Service The staffs are very kind and willing to help customers and they can communicate well in English. (They are fluent in English compared to other restaurants.) We didn't ask for chopsticks🥢, but we got them with forks🍽 and spoons🥄, which moved us.(We love to use chopsticks because it is easier to eat with chopsticks as Koreans.🎎) There is a special space designated for kids to play with toys and the TV showed us "Masha and the bear"(hello Russians kids🤗) which my 6-year-old daughter loves to watch. We asked the staff to cut the mango we brought there, and she kindly accepted our request. We were touched because the mango was beutifully cut, not missing even the side pieces.🥭 (Even though you do not bring any fruits, you can eat some fruits after a meal free of charge.) You should not miss ice-cream🍨 as well. You can choose vanilla or chocolate, two kinds of fruits out of more than ten, and can add snacks, sprinkles, or whipped cream. Then a kind woman mixes them together(without a mistake because she writes down what we chose very carefully.) and presents delightful icecream!

Fast Cooking I was mesmerized by the fast speed of cooking. You can see approximately more than 100 different foods in the menu. No matter what you order(Except for some steamed food because it takes time.), you can get the foods you ordered in about 10 minutes.

Excellent taste of food We ordered many different kinds during three days, we enjoyed every other food there. 🍜🥗🥘🍲🍔🍷🍾🍸My mom and I could not help but eat really fast because it was so delicious. It even had Soju.(Korean vodka. You can try if you didn't know about it. Korean friends, I know you feel so happy now.😋) My husband loved fried crab with curry powder so much. I miss grilled chicken, pad thai, morning glory and many others already so badly. My family members almost forced me to write a review here because we really enjoyed this place.(And this is my first time writing a google map review.)

If you miss this restaurant in Maikao, you are missing everything! 💋

Even if you are not in Maikao, it is worth visiting here because to me this restaurant was better than many other popular restaurants in Patong or Karon. (Taste, price, and service is uncomparable.) Plus, maikao beach was really beautiful, long and peaceful, so why don't you visit!

This the most crowded restaurant on the street. However the food is little disappointing. Mainly because the quality and portion/size of the Dish. We have 3 adult 2 kids.

Order and price is on the receipt.

Overall restaurant is super clean and people know English very well. Menu has English and Chinese. 100% tourist ready. Waiters are super polite and well organized. Restroom/toilet is super clean and I love that they have sink outside or close to the table area for people to wash their hands. Full mark on the atmosphere portion and service.

To start we ordered a soup and leaf wrapped shrimp. The soup we can barely get 5 bowl out. Kind of small. Taste wise... So so. Nothing surprising extraordinary. Leaf wrapped shrimp. 5 pieces. Not bad, kids loves it however you can tell the shrimp is not fresh either. Can't complain. Is appetizers.

We wanted good shrimps 🦐. Definitely the wrong place for it even Thailand is famous for seafood. We ordered the grill big shrimp (pictured). 7 large shrimp. Ok size, seen bigger ones. Anyways, size isn't matter as long as quality is good. First thing we noticed is the shrimps shell is sticking with the meat. First sign showing they are SUPER not fresh or even old. Second, the body of the shrimp are soft, not firm and breaks down. Definitely old frozen for a long time. They are all tasteless. Total fail. And... Did I mention it is the more expensive dish @$250B. Others average at 120B per dish (same as others in the area).

We also have Pad Thai and veg both are decent taste but portion are on the small size.

To close, we want to try Mango Sticky rice at the end. Surprisingly decent. Reasonable portion for what it is.. may be our expectation was low at that time already. Mango is fresh and rice is good. Pretty hard to mess this dish up I guess? Pictured here as well.

Overall experience... Receipt and all things are digitized just like a decent westernized clean restaurant. That's the experience. Looking for local experience in both service and food quality may want to try another place. If I go again. I would order something more "safe". They do have wide range of menu. You, no matter you are from, can probably find your home food. Quality?...

Stir-fry shrimp in basil was amazing, spicy was perfect!

Springrolls were great, full of flavour and nice texture.

Papaya Salad not spicy was the best of our three week trip across Thailand.

Margerrita Pizza was crispy and delicious.

Pork neck was exceptionally good.

Satay was mouth watering.

Fruit Shakes were very nice too.

Of the small selection in Mai Khao, this place looked the best, and it is family owned by honest, hardworking, lovely and well presented and eager to help Thai Family.

Do a walk and get an idea of it for yourself im sure you will find Sunshine is the best place for dinner.

Our little boy could also play freely after dinner under our supervision with a few toddler toys and we had complimentary fresh fruit.

Adding that there is a nice bathroom and relaxing swing chair. Lots of space inside...
