ā 1 star Very disappointed ā a beach full of plastic and dead fish
We came to this beach near Phuket Airport, which is known for the popular āairplane photoā as planes fly low overhead. From a distance, it looked like a beautiful, long beach surrounded by forest. But as we got closer, we were shocked.
Thereās a long stretch of shoreline (almost a kilometer) completely covered with plastic waste of all sizes, and dozens of dead fish scattered along the sand. It was really sad and disturbing to see.
At first, I picked up a plastic bag and tried to collect some of the trash, but it was just overwhelming ā impossible to make a difference when thereās so much pollution.
Meanwhile, tourists were posing for the famous plane photo with all this trash under their feet, as if it wasnāt even there.
I understand that much of this plastic may have been brought in by the sea, but that doesnāt change the fact that something needs to be done. No beach is safe anymore, and this is not the kind of experience tourists expect when visiting a tropical paradise.
š” I encourage other travelers: if you see similar situations, please upload your photos and share your reviews. Maybe if enough of us speak up, local authorities will finally take action.
This could be a stunning place ā but right now, itās a very sad sight. #ProtectPhuket #CleanUpMaiKhao...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe honestly donāt think thereās a better beach than this one. Itās super quiet, peaceful, and the best part? Since itās close to the airport, you can watch planes fly low right above the beach as theyāre landing. Might be a regular sight for some, but for usāit felt like therapy.
Weāve seen some of the best sunsets here. We came early in the morning for a shoot, and then again in the evening just to chill with a beer. Our hotel was nearby, so we just walked over. Alsoābonus pointsāour beloved 7-Eleven was close too, so we grabbed snacks and had our own little picnic.
Another beautiful thing? Itās right next to Sirinat National Park, so we spotted some stunning birds flying by. We tried really hard to get a picture, but the moment we even slightly lifted the camera, theyād fly away. Sadly, we only had our phones on this trip, so everything was shot on an iPhone. If weād had our camera, maybe we couldāve zoomed in and gotten a few good shotsābut no worries, next time!
Also, while the beach is free to access, there is an entry fee for the national parkāit helps preserve and protect the area, so we didnāt mind paying. Some people say thereās a fee for the beach too, but we didnāt experience that. Lucky, I guess?
All in all, itās an absolutely beautiful beach. A...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf youāre in Phuket and looking for a unique experience, this is hands down one of the best spots to visitāespecially if you're even slightly into planes or photography! This beach is famous for being right next to the airport runway, and the real thrill is watching planes fly incredibly low as they come in for landing. Itās such a surreal experience to see massive aircraft glide down right above your head while you're standing on the sand. The sound, the view, the rushāitās unforgettable.
But itās not just about planes. The beach itself is stunning. Golden sands, clear waters, and that perfect tropical vibe. Itās a great mix of nature and excitement in one place. Itās super photogenic tooāevery direction you look, thereās a picture-perfect shot waiting. Whether it's the plane in the sky, the beach backdrop, or candid moments, youāll want your camera ready at all times.
Youāll need to walk a bit from the parking area to reach the spot, but itās worth it. If you're not up for walking, tuk-tuks are available too. Itās an ideal place for a half-day or full-day trip, especially if you're into something different from the usual beach scenes.
Highly recommended for travelers, couples,...
