⭐ 1 star Very disappointed – a beach full of plastic and dead fish
We came to this beach near Phuket Airport, which is known for the popular “airplane photo” as planes fly low overhead. From a distance, it looked like a beautiful, long beach surrounded by forest. But as we got closer, we were shocked.
There’s a long stretch of shoreline (almost a kilometer) completely covered with plastic waste of all sizes, and dozens of dead fish scattered along the sand. It was really sad and disturbing to see.
At first, I picked up a plastic bag and tried to collect some of the trash, but it was just overwhelming — impossible to make a difference when there’s so much pollution.
Meanwhile, tourists were posing for the famous plane photo with all this trash under their feet, as if it wasn’t even there.
I understand that much of this plastic may have been brought in by the sea, but that doesn’t change the fact that something needs to be done. No beach is safe anymore, and this is not the kind of experience tourists expect when visiting a tropical paradise.
🟡 I encourage other travelers: if you see similar situations, please upload your photos and share your reviews. Maybe if enough of us speak up, local authorities will finally take action.
This could be a stunning place — but right now, it’s a very sad sight. #ProtectPhuket #CleanUpMaiKhao...
Read moreWe honestly don’t think there’s a better beach than this one. It’s super quiet, peaceful, and the best part? Since it’s close to the airport, you can watch planes fly low right above the beach as they’re landing. Might be a regular sight for some, but for us—it felt like therapy.
We’ve seen some of the best sunsets here. We came early in the morning for a shoot, and then again in the evening just to chill with a beer. Our hotel was nearby, so we just walked over. Also—bonus points—our beloved 7-Eleven was close too, so we grabbed snacks and had our own little picnic.
Another beautiful thing? It’s right next to Sirinat National Park, so we spotted some stunning birds flying by. We tried really hard to get a picture, but the moment we even slightly lifted the camera, they’d fly away. Sadly, we only had our phones on this trip, so everything was shot on an iPhone. If we’d had our camera, maybe we could’ve zoomed in and gotten a few good shots—but no worries, next time!
Also, while the beach is free to access, there is an entry fee for the national park—it helps preserve and protect the area, so we didn’t mind paying. Some people say there’s a fee for the beach too, but we didn’t experience that. Lucky, I guess?
All in all, it’s an absolutely beautiful beach. A...

This beach is famous for being right next to the airport runway, and the real thrill is watching planes fly incredibly low as they come in for landing. It’s such a surreal experience to see massive aircraft glide down right above your head while you're standing on the sand. The sound, the view, the rush—it’s unforgettable.
But it’s not just about planes. The beach itself is stunning. Golden sands, clear waters, and that perfect tropical vibe. It’s a great mix of nature and excitement in one place. It’s super photogenic too—every direction you look, there’s a picture-perfect shot waiting. Whether it's the plane in the sky, the beach backdrop, or candid moments, you’ll want your camera ready at all times.
You’ll need to walk a bit from the parking area to reach the spot, but it’s worth it. If you're not up for walking, tuk-tuks are available too. It’s an ideal place for a half-day or full-day trip, especially if you're into something different from the usual beach scenes.
Highly recommended for travelers, couples,...
