First of all, the location is amazing with great views. We visited in late afternoon for an early dinner and sat inside what can best be described as an open hut.
The price was reasonable given the location and views and the amount of food we ordered.
Service was very good, polite and attentive throughout.
We ordered some crab fried rice, a spicy crab salad, some grilled squid, a Thai omelette, and a fried fish with garlic. We also had a pineapple and a coconut shake.
The drinks were very good. Better than most in that they had a true fruit taste and were not too sweet (unlike many that you get on the streets).
The fried rice (Khao Pad Bu) was good, in that it was not heavy and was tasty without being too oily.
The crab salad was ok...fresh crab but of the smaller blue swimmer variety and therefore quite hard to get substantial chunks out of, and finicky to eat. Salad was very spicy. On the higher end of Thai levels of spicyness. Overall, not bad, but I've had better where the star of the dish is the sweetness and freshness of the crab.
Squid was good, but we ordered too much of it. One between 2 adults is probably enough if you are having it as a side dish (like we were). The squid had a bit of smoky BBQ flavour but I felt it could have stayed on the grill a bit longer for some extra char flavour. One thing to note is that the clear tail tube of the squid had not been removed so when you ate pieces of squid, you often had to pick out the hard plastic like cartilage. The spicy (Nam Jim) Seafood sauce was an excellent accompaniment to the squid and one of the better versions of the sauce I've ever had.
The Omelette (Kiaw Jiaw) was also good. A bit more oily than normal but tasty and it came in a huge serving!
The highlight was definitely the Fried Fish with Garlic. This was excellent and a real standout. The fish was fresh, juicy and tender, but with a fried outer shell/skin. I would return to this restaurant just for the fish, and despite massively over-ordering too many dishes for my small family, we managed to finish the fish off.
Overall the food was very good and together with the view, it made for a great night....except for...the many flies and sand midges (sand flies that bite). They kept flying around the food requiring a constant waving of hands and arms to keep them clear, and the sand midges would occasionally bite us. We found the food and view very enjoyable but the experience was very much detracted by the bugs. Still, we don't regret going as we had a good experience overall, the type that will be remembered long after the sand fly...
Read moreFood Overall, this was not great across the board. Food was really slow, and there were too many things which happened to make this an unsatisfactory experience 🤔
Iced ovaltine - drink was black and consisted of nothing but chocolate syrup. The drink was also served with no milk. Upon googling this, I could not find anything or any serving of a chocolate milk containing no milk. 😫
Apple shake - tasted great. No complaints 👌 🍎
Chicken red curry stir fry- good but was significantly under portioned with 7 little bits of chicken and vegetables consisting of 80% chillies after not asking for this being spicy 😶🔥
Pad Thai - asked for no meat and got served with chicken throughout. Was good but not as ordered 🙃😶
Shrimp and cashew stir fry - shrimps still had all their shells on them 🫠. Sauce was great, but again, vegetables consisted of mainly chilli 🌶🔥
Service and restaurant Table service was passable, view of beach is amazing, staff seemed friendly however the restaurant smelt awful 🤮💩.
When we tried to pay, one of their staff was trying on glasses with flashing lights and joking to the other staff without serving or acknowledging us.
Additionally, the other staff member tried to take my card without telling us how much it was.
All in all a not great experience, food was ok but there are better places...
Read moreThe night after I gave the detail review below my wife & I suffered from acute food poisoning. The culprit was their tom yam. The soup was not cooked well and the prawns were not fresh. One of the prawns head was black.
I am not able to give this place good reviews for the following reasons;
I do not recommend this place if one is looking for very good Thai food. Their food is average and the worse part, they don't know portion. Too much so you have...
