Cheap Charlie's — Restaurant in Pattaya City

Good authentic English food. Real comfort food the sheperds pie was like mum use to make. Great value for money. I did make a mistake by going in with out a shirt on. Too my surprise several of the waitresses started shouting across the restaurant and of course everyone turned around which was a little embarrassing. The very loud waitress came over and made her displeasure of me for not having a shirt on and I had too go. I replied quietly it was not a problem and I would leave. Just as I was about too leave I noticed they sell cheap charlie T-shirt. If the waitress had said you have too put a shirt on and if you donot have one we sell our restaurant shirts for say £5.00 to £10.00 pounds i would have bought one as I was starving. I was there for another 3 x weeks. I did not go back in again that holiday as I really didn't feel comfortable about my last visit. I had been there for a week and used it 3 x times. Management at cheap charlies i probably would of used your restaurant another dozen times spending 300 to 400Bhat per visit. Perhaps some staff training in diplomacy about the dress code for customers. Don't embarrass the customer!! sell them a shirt instead and make another profitable sale and then sell some wonderful home cooked food. This is good business.

I do not believe the customer is always right. There was a solution in offering a shirt quietly and not embarrassing me. I did see another customer a couple of days earlier dealt with exactly the same way so why did I do It? I was on holiday feeling great and very relaxed. Answer I simply forgot. It put me off returning during my trip in December 2022. To finish on a positive note. Good food competitively priced in decent surroundings. My early morning breakfast experience at Cheap Charlies Jomtien was a pleasant one, I was smartly allocated a table beneath one of the many ceiling fans, there was pleasant music playing lightly in the background, a menu was swiftly delivered to my table, my breakfast choice was the breakfast B2, includes a mug of tea or coffee, a glass of orange juice, the meal came within 10 minutes and was freshly made, 1 slice of toast and one slice of fried bread came on a small plate with butter. My main breakfast included, nice bacon, 3 thin sausages, a thick slice of black pudding, half a grilled tomato, lots of fried mushrooms, a generous scoup of baked beans, this was a hearty breakfast indeed and at 179Bt is a one of a kind breakfast in Jomtien. The staff I encountered were all pleasant and friendly. I shall be back daily untill my time in Jomtien is over. Well worth a visit. Update Jan 23 2025. Yet again a great hearty English breakast was delivered smartly to my table by a pleasant smiling team member. Although there has been a price increase since my last review I cant agree with the comments of MANGDA a reviewer from several days ago, such negative comments, you order split pea soup, remove the ham, cancel the included bread and complain it wasnt a large enough meal, mate cut the woke vegetarian crap and order a decent breakfast as shown. Good morning to every one at Cheap Charlie's Restaurants & Bars Thailand Hope you are all fine. Me and my wife Kanitthamon truly would like to say big huge massive (THANK YOU) for last night. You all gave us both a night we will never forget. Every thing was so so perfect. The table and especially the food and drink and even the music hehe and of course all the staff. I was very surprised with the Anniversary Decorations as well. I truly was not expecting that. So (THANK YOU) for giving us a very very special memorable night to every one in such short notice.
