I brought my mum here for a special meal to celebrate the last night of her holiday. The setting was lovely, and the staff were polite and welcoming. However, the service was disorganized, highlighting the lack of proper management.
I ordered the Tenderloin Steak, cooked medium, with pepper sauce and mashed potatoes. While the steak tasted great, the mashed potatoes and sauce were only lukewarm. For 950 THB, I expected everything to be served hot. I asked the staff to reheat both the mashed potatoes and the sauce. They brought back the potatoes steaming hot, but the sauce remained lukewarm. I asked the waiter to take the sauce back again to reheat it, and even after the second attempt, it was still not hot. These delays ruined the flow of the meal, as I had to wait nearly 7 minutes to properly enjoy my steak.
My girlfriend had the Spaghetti Kee Mao, which was excellent—flavorful and perfectly prepared.
My mum ordered the Pesto Pasta with Salmon and a vegetable pizza. The pasta was brought out first, but after about 15 minutes, the waiter informed her that the chef had made the wrong pizza and was preparing a new one. My mum then gave the pasta back and requested it to be made fresh so it could come out with the pizza. I’m not sure if the request was lost in translation, but they should have made a fresh dish regardless. Instead, they microwaved the pasta, which had already been sitting out for about 25 minutes, and brought it back with the pizza. This was completely unacceptable for a restaurant that claims to offer fine dining. The pizza itself had plenty of toppings and was decent, but the salmon on the pasta was overcooked and slightly burnt.
Although the staff were friendly, no one checked on us during the meal to ask if everything was okay. The lack of oversight and organization was frustrating. For a bill totaling 2,090 THB, we expected much better service and attention to detail.
While the food had its moments, the overall experience didn’t justify the price. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return or recommend...
Read moreFirst of all, I would like to recommend this restaurant for its excellent atmosphere and high-quality food. I’ve been visiting this place for three days in a row because it offers a great environment for working, which I greatly appreciate.
However, I must address a very disappointing experience I had today.
On my third day here, after enjoying my time without any issues, I was interrupted during an important Zoom meeting with a client. A staff member, unlike the rest of the team who have been kind, professional, and competent, approached me in a very rude manner. Without any prior request from me, she abruptly placed the bill on my table and informed me that I needed to leave because I had been there too long.
I was quite shocked by this behavior. I was seated in the back of the restaurant around 5 PM, and the place was nearly empty. I had ordered food and spent 725 baht during my visit, with the intention of ordering more once my meeting concluded.
I understand that I had been there for a couple of hours, but I was unaware of any time limit for customers, and if such a policy exists, it was not communicated to me. Even if there is a limit, it is highly unprofessional to interrupt a customer in such a manner, especially during an important business meeting. A more courteous approach would have been to ask if I was planning to order anything else.
I strongly recommend that the management provide additional training to this particular staff member on how to interact with customers. The rest of your team has been wonderful, and it’s clear that they understand the importance of treating customers well.
Ultimately, happy customers are essential for any business to thrive. If customers are driven away by poor service, it affects the business’s reputation and, consequently, its revenue. I hope that this feedback helps improve the overall experience for future customers.
This was the first time I’ve ever been made to feel unwelcome in a restaurant, and I hope it will...
Read moreThis place has great coffee BUT I won’t be going back!!! Which is a shame … for them, at least. Let me explain ...
I stumbled across L' Aroma on the second morning one a one month stay in Jomtien. After doing a little work answering emails, and enjoying the coffee, I thought I’d have some breakfast. The menu is extensive with good Western breakfasts, but - like so many businesses run by English in Asia - it is run for them not for their customers! :-((
Not wanting a large breakfast I thought I just have a couple of eggs on toast. Nope. Not on the menu. Yes. Many other - more expensive options - were and all quite large. I wanted something small.
So you would think if they are offering full English or American breakfasts you’d be able to get a couple of eggs on toast, right?
Nope.
After 10 minutes back and forth, I left. It was obvious that they only want to offer what suits them, NOT their customers, so if you don’t want a large (and expensive) breakfast then it’s not an option.
Not wanting to know why the kitchen could not do me two fried eggs, I left and went elsewhere.
The problem for L’ Aroma I found another place with great coffee too and has fried eggs on toast for 50Baht. So for the past two weeks I have gone there every morning and wild so for another 4 weeks now.
Such a shame … for them, at least!
Beware of restaurants run by Westerners whose only aim is to extract as much money from your pocket as they can, while not offering you options that suits you, the customer!
And the worse problem - for them at least - is I have mentioned it to a number of expats I have befriended in Jomtien, and they now...
