Yaonoi Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

DELICIOUS food, gracious and lovely service, fun view of the fishermen dock! It is recently under new ownership and I believe the name is changing away from Yanoi seafood. The new owner is the most welcoming man with a kind smile! He told us he is inspired by the enormous tamarind tree growing in the middle of the restaurant, so he is basing many of his menu items around tamarind sauce. We ordered a whole fried fish with tamarind sauce and it was the best whole fried fish I’ve had, ever. We also enjoyed an amazing Tom Yum soup and banana pancake for dessert. I was charged 800 baht for a snapper. I have fish everywhere in Thailand since many years and never happened to me. the menu says “steamed snapper” for 280 baht. The lady said that refers to a fillet, while I had the whole fish. Something we had not discussed before BTW. A fillet is basically half a fish, cleaned. So I would understand - to a certain point - that she charged me double the price, and I would forgive that the menu doesn’t specify anything about it. But 800??? The fish was fresh and decently cooked, although not the best. Service was quite lazy, y dropped the knife and the lady looked at me but didn’t stand up, went back to her phone. We stumbled upon this place because of the very friendly waitress outside, and after having dinner there, we came back twice more (including our Christmas dinner). The food is just incredible (we ordered steamed fish, tempura vegetables, curries, fried banana and much more, and they're happy to adjust a dish if you ask) and such a good price. The fantastic service makes it our favourite restaurant, we had such enjoyable experiences here, and the owners are just wonderful people. I cannot recommend this...
