Yes, 1 Star! My wife had heard about this place so we invited friends to join us for lunch there. When we first walked in I checked to see if they accepted credit cards to give me an idea of how much I could order, as I had very little cash with me and my Thai bank account was also running low (which really isn't anyone's business anyway). I was happy to see they accepted credit card, but once again disappointed that they charged an additional percentage (what I thought said 3% at first look, as is becoming more popular in Thai restaurants). Anyway, I shrugged off the 3% and ordered away. The meal was SPECTACULAR, as all 4 of us agreed. We even splurged and ordered desserts. We couldn't believe the variety of tastes and how good everything was. There were dishes on the menu we hadn't even heard of before that day. We were very pleased and started talking about our next visit, and who else we should share this amazing discovery with. When the bill came I insisted on paying as we would often take turns. I was absolutely shocked to see the restaurant charged 8% for credit cards!!! I gasped outloud and everyone asked what was wrong. In disbelief I said, "they charged me 8% to use my credit card!" I double checked to make sure it wasn't an error, but after checking with my reading glasses on I could see that they do charge 8% when it should actually be considered a cost of doing business. We all agreed it was very insulting and still don't understand why 8%, but decided that we wouldn't be back and not rave about it to others as we had planned. I feel that even 3% is ignorant, but 8% is insulting. If I go to lunch by myself I will spend about 150-250 baht in cash or transfer, but if the restaurant accepts credit card I don't mind spending 1,000 baht for a more refined elaborate meal. Are you telling me that spending 30 baht (3%) to get me to spend 1,000 isn't a good investment for your business? How did you ever...
Read moreOverall food is very delicious and worth to visit. However, there are several things to point out.
I walked-in to restaurant without reservation. I asked for reservation for half an hour later. One of the service boy came and told me that he would checked if there is any available table for me or not, but never came back to me. Luckily, one lady came to me and take note for my reservation and booked the table for me.
We went there 5 people. 4 adults and one 2 years old kid. We ordered food but requested that to give Thai omelet with prawn before other doshes as it is for my daughter. We can wait for other. Unfortunately, all of the all were served 55 minutes after we ordered. I were at restaurant at 1pm. We started to eat five past 2pm. The photo attached is the first food came after 50 mins. It's not only our table. I monitored the other table. (Nearby table with two children waited almost an hour. After following up several time, staff served two plates of rice without any dishes coming our from kitchen. They waited another 10 to 20 mins until the dishes are served) They had same experience. We reminded staffs to follow up our food. They noted and went into kitchen, but never came back to update us the status.
We were really unhappy about the speed of service. Food is very delicious. Every dishes are superb. Service need to be improves. I want to go there again for food, but I won't.
[[REPLY to Restaurant Admin]] Understand that every restaurant follows order and serve by queue. But this isn't like that. Even waiting queue but 50 mins to 1 hour is too much I guess. PS. I was not asking staff to do food for my kid first, but just to serve it first among our order and Fried egg isn't complicated food to...
Read moreWhile the food is good as you might expect from a seafood restaurant in seaside resort of Hua Hin Thailand, they don't make clear they will apply 8pct if you choose to pay with Visa or Mastercard. Their staff had the audacity to claim all retailers charge that but its simply NOT TRUE. And when asked to bring the manager they claim no one in authority is available. We asked in English and then in Thai. Mastercard and Visa charge 3pct worldwide and Amex 5pct. You are warned by this reviewer to pay in cash. And either greed drives their policy, or they have some reason to encourage cash only.
RESPONSE: Thank you for your prompt reply. Transparency is very important and I appreciate you will endeavour to improve visibility for future customers. However, its not helpful that your staff misleads customers that "everyone charges this" abd prevent ys from spraking to anyone in authority fir your business. We went to many small retailers in Hua Hin abd other cities and either retailers had a minimum spend requirement to use a credit card, or in the case of larger enterprises they simply treated the payment by card without any additional charge. I can only reiterate that - globally - Visa and Mastercard charge 3pct and Amex which you dont even accept charges 5pct. Using a foreign credit card already costs customers a conversion fee. So I'm at a loss why when the bill came to nearly £100 equivalent for two persons dining you dont impose a minimum spend...
