You probably know how it's like when you travel and after a while of eating local foods, you get the cravings for something particular from your "Heimat"! So, after doing some online research, I found this in German-style decorated restaurant to eat a Wurstsalat. I had a gut feeling that it could be a disaster, as when you choose a dish with little ingredients, it's these which count! If the sausage used is wrong, then the whole dish is poor, as it happened to be. I had bought Lyoner and Fleischwurst in the meat section of Blueport Mall and it was good. There is also a Swiss Butchery & German restaurant in Hua Hin and their products are good. So I cannot understand why that sausage used in their Wurstsalat tasted so bland, wrong texture, chopped more than cut and Siracha sauce in the vinaigrette?? The Pretzel bun was as heavy as an anchor, to sink the whole dish. I probably should have ordered a Schnitzel or something similar? There were quite a few clientele and they seemed happy. So, probably a good place to eat the usual German fare, just take the Wurstsalat off the menu. It will give...
Read moreVery very mediocre. Odd short menu. No starters. Mains not in separate section. Out of stock the first dish I ordered. Odd. Place was empty!
Staff very untrained and unprofessional. Played with mobiles and had a drink (!) In the bar! Had to call several times for their attention. In between they managed to carry something to the table, they couldn't care less about you. Not came up once and asked if they could be of help.
Desert horrible. Tried an "applecake". How many weeks it had been stored is not sure. Dry and tasteless. Couldn't eat it. Left it. And no one asked why! Not even owner.
Inside looks ok. But all those dead animal trophys on the walls make you lose appetite. It is not Africa in the beginning of the 1900's now! For me that is repulsive.
Conclusion. Everywhere you go in the world and try a german eatery, it is usually good. This one is not and is no threat to the other german in town. Who also is way below acceptable. Sad really. I miss a good german place!
Won't return to this one! Why open a restaurant if you not know...
Read moreThe Dorfstadl restaurant is something very special. The atmosphere of a restaurant located in Bavaria or Tyrol that prevails here is really exemplified by the boss and the very nice staff. The female staff wears traditional Bavarian costumes, which looks very nice. The dishes are like from Oberbayern oder Tirol (Bavaria or Austria). Of course, there are also a lot of Thai dishes so that there is usually something for everyone. The prices are pleasantly low. You can really feel very comfortable here, the music fits the atmosphere. Every now and then I listen to music. From my youth such as the Watzmann, these are things that you can't get or hear anywhere else. Today is Oktoberfest. Restaurant is...
