Tonight, my partner and I decided to try dinner at Loetje on Soi 94. We had heard great things about their steaks and the place always seemed crowded, so we were excited to give it a try. However, our experience turned out to be quite disappointing.
Upon our arrival, we noticed that there were only two occupied tables, so we assumed the service would be prompt. Unfortunately, after placing our order for a steak, pork ribs, a baked potato with sour cream, and a side of potatoes au gratin, we ended up waiting for over an hour to receive our food. Surprisingly, no one came to apologize or provide any explanation for the delay.
Despite the extended wait, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, hoping that the food would be worth it. While my partner enjoyed the steak, mentioning its quality, it came at a steep price. On the other hand, the ribs were underwhelming. They lacked seasoning and had only a minimal amount of BBQ sauce.
However, the biggest letdown was the quality of the sides. The baked potato was strangely watery, and the potatoes au gratin had a sour taste, as if they had accidentally used sour cream instead of cream cheese.
Although the restaurant's decor was pleasant, with curbside seating adding to its charm, the only redeeming aspect of our meal...
Read moreThe good news is that this place can ONLY IMPROVE. I called it a “place”, because one can not call this place a restaurant. One can always hope it can’t get any worse than This. 1-Should hire a waitress. Not sure what to call the lady with terrible attitude pretending she knows the steps of service, horrible service just like her attitude. 2-Hire a cook who knows the difference between medium well and one inch cold raw center. We ordered over ten dishes and not one was even ok. A decent cook(not even a chef)would have never served any of those dishes. Not only these dishes were prepared poorly, they also lack the proper presentation. Maybe same lady who took our order was cooking because we barely saw her in the dining room. I don’t mind serving my own wine, but I can’t go back to the kitchen to get other beverages. For that I need a waitress. We recently purchased a property south of Hua Hin and have traveled to every corner of Thailand in the past 9 years. By far the worst experience. The goal is to enjoy dining and not to stuff ourselves to...
Read moreAlthough I have heard about Loetje and seen the Facebook ads for the Monday BBQ rib special, I have only eaten here two times. The first time, I forgot to take photos, so it doesn't count... hehehe
On a recent visit, I selected the goat cheese salad, the Australian rib-eye steak and a carafe of house red wine. I also ordered a baked potato with sour cream and chives and an order of bread.
The 450 gram steak was cooked to a perfect medium as per my request and the chef even came out to check to see if it met my spec.
The goat cheese salad was good but a little heavy on the dressing.
The baked potato was cooked perfectly. The bread was fine.
Oh, I almost forgot, I had the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
This little bistro is open air, so they will set up a fan to blow on you and there can be significant road noise when some motorcycles drive by.
The service staff members are friendly and attentive without getting in the way.
All in all, I had a wonderful experience at Loetje Supreme. I will return to try...
