Shakers — Restaurant in Rawai

This was the first time for me to visit Shakers in the 7 years I live in Phuket. My wife and a friend of mine decided to visit this place after a recommendation. I am pretty observative on many things as I've been a chef for many years. We were still on the parking lot as we were already greeted in English by the staff. The restaurant has a spacefull and cosy atmosphere and good chairs. Once seated, we got welcomed by the Owner Mr Olivier, which appeared to be Belgian. The restaurant offers a very varied menu and the menus are written in French, German, Italian, Russian, English and Spanish. My wife had a green curry, my friend had a duck dish while I was craving for a fondue Bourguignonne, but it appeared to be for 2 pax on the menu. No problem at all for the owner to have it as a single person. This made my Day! For the dishes I can say that Shakers works with daily fresh quality products. The sauces are home made, and the taste is succulent. No need to say that if you are in the Area, this place is a MUST to visit. Great food, great vibe, great Atmosphere, the key for a successful lunch or dinner. 5 stars from me ( should be 10 !) And for sure...

Where can you get a good feed for 395 baht! Not many places I suspect, but here at Shakers they do an incredible BBQ spread a couple of times a week. Beef, pork, chicken, and even seafood. Add to that a salad bar, baked potatoes, bread and even fruit for dessert. My friend and I were the first customers to arrive at 6pm and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. We both chose a plate of meats and seafood and it was taken to be BBQ'd. We enjoyed an ice cold beer whilst waiting. The food was cooked as per our instructions and very enjoyable. Our favourite was the pork, very tender, and the baked potatoes, some of the best potatoes we have ever eaten. Shakers has a relaxed, laid back atmosphere and it started to get busy around 8pm. The place is spotlessly clean, has lovely staff and a friendly owner who we had a quick chat with. A must visit restaurant if you are staying...

I always give five stars because less is very hard to recover from .. and everyone has a bad day.

I was in the mood for a hot dog and some onion rings. They were not good. I felt like the onion rings came out of a bag and we're frozen. They were nothing special. The hotdog was served on a sub sandwich bun that was toasted. The hot dogs were not grilled, because there was no caramelization on them at all. I felt like I was eating microwaved hot dogs. The cheese was another matter altogether. I have no idea what kind of cheese it was, but it looked and tasted like cheese whiz. The mustard was decent, but I prefer French's yellow mustard on my hot dogs.
