BED BUGS, AVOID!! While I had a decent stay at this place at first, the concern from management afterward was horrible. I'd never been bitten by bed bugs before so when I awoke with bites, I figured they were just mosquito bites. However the morning that I left the hostel, I realized that something was wrong and I looked up bed bugs and saw that indeed this was EXACTLY what I had. My arms and legs were absolutely covered in burning bites and I had to leave on the ferry that morning. When I arrived at my next destination, I even saw a bed bug crawl out of my bag. Therefore, I had to pay to get every single item of clothing I had laundered to hopefully get rid of them. When I contacted Black Wood afterward, they ignored my email. Then I emailed Agoda (I reserved through them) and they contacted the hostel, who said that I had never contacted them and now it was too late. When I sent a screenshot of the first email and date, they replied that it was still too late for them to do anything (??) when all I requested was a refund to pay for all the laundry I had to get done. Read moreExcept for the location there is not much more about it. The bar of the hostel hosts afterparties every night til 3am (yet we had no big noise nuisance as we asked for the most remote bungalow). The room in itself was simple but very filthy (and expensive compared to similar places): Fridge not working, sheets looked dirty, and dangerous screw sticking out by the door. The room was very dirty, quite sure it hadn't been cleaned before. There was no electric light in the bungalow, so we had to ask for this. The bed is a spring bed, so if you like to bounce its perfect for you but not ideal for deep sleep sess. We had to be drunk both times to pass the night. The worst of it all was the bathroom, words are not enough to describe it so i'll attach pictures.
Thankfully it was just to sleep a...
Read moreThe hostel is an amazing place! It's located in the slightly less crowded part of town, just 5 minutes walk away from the pier. There's shops and restaurants around, beaches are very easy to go to from here! The hostel itself is very clean and tidy. The accommodations are inexpensive and nice, especially the roomy bungalows. The best part are the people! I've met amazing friends in here, both in staff and visitors. Everyone is happy to help you with some tips on what to do on the island, where to eat or party. The owner runs a cooking class most days, so learning about thai cuisine is a big bonus! I really recommend this place to any backpacker looking for a chill place to stay on a beautiful,...
