Bubba's Roastery — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Our absolute favorite spot for late breakfasts! We first discovered this wonderful place 6 years ago when we visited Koh Phangan for the very first time. Back then, we were already impressed by the incredibly delicious coffee and the high-quality, flavorful food. You may not believe it, but one of the decisive factors for our return to Phangan in 2025 was actually Bubba’s Roastery.

During our entire stay on the island, we ate exclusively here, and here’s why: Food: Absolutely fantastic! You can literally order anything from the menu and be sure about the quality, preparation, and taste. The menu is very diverse, so everyone will find something they love. (They even serve syrniki now — and they taste even better than in their homeland!) Consistency: The dishes are equally delicious whether you dine in or take away. We tested it twice — even delivery meals (including drinks!) arrive just as tasty and beautifully presented. Service & hospitality: The staff are professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. You can clearly see that there are service standards in place, maintained over many years. It’s great to feel that the owners truly care.

We were lucky enough, on our very last day on Phangan, to meet the big boss while buying some merch. Robin, thank you for your kindness — it was a pleasure meeting you!

Cons: No shirt policy: unfortunately, some tourists leave their manners at home, and it would be nice if the restaurant could gently encourage a basic dress code. No magnets in the merch line (please make them, we’d definitely buy some!).

We wish you continued growth and success, and we’ll happily keep coming back again and again...

UPDATE 2023: best cafe on this side of the island! I came back after a year and I adore the changes they made at the space, industrial style, showing the coffee beans and the machines. The music is lovely and the coffee absolutely delicious, non acidic and aromatic. The staff is kind and competent. (no clandestine cinnamon sprinkled on my coffee 😉) The atmosphere is cozy, bright and welcoming. I tried also the pancakes, which are probably the best I've ever had in my life, extra fluffy, topped with yogurt and thinly sliced fruit, flowers and a light sensitive drizzle of maple syrup. PERFECTION. Also, this is one of the few places on the island where you'll get your breakfast eggs exactly how you wish or even better. The sourdough bread they use is exceptional. I highly recommend this cafe! 👌 🌟

2022 I was expecting more from this place. My cappuccino was ok, although I must say overpriced. It was truly nothing special to justify the higher price compared to other (good) coffee places. One thing I didn't like at all was the cinnamon on the top! Why?! That should be a separate drink in the menu, as cinnamon alters the taste of the traditional cappuccino and not everyone likes it. Then the music was too loud and disco style at 9am on a Sunday... Totally inappropriate. I would've tried some food but I had to...

Bubba’s Roastery is an absolute treasure and easily one of my favorite spots in SEA! From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a perfect blend of tropical island charm and trendy café culture.

Bubba’s serves up some of the most BEST western dishes I’ve had in Thailand, their burger is hands down one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly grilled – it’s a must-try if you’re a burger lover. Pair that with a side of crispy fries and one of their specialty coffees, and you’re in heaven.

The coffee is simply phenomenal and self sourced and grown in Thailand. The head roaster is an awesome and friendly person, and roast fresh beans every day for the rich cappuccino, or a classic espresso, you can tell the team puts so much care into every cup including the art. It’s clear that Bubba’s is run by people who are truly passionate about quality coffee.

The ambiance is equally amazing. The front terrace is perfect for people-watching or soaking up the morning sun, while the lush garden in the back offers a peaceful escape to relax and unwind. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours just enjoying the surroundings.
