La Lanterna Chez Nello — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Many would be sceptical about eating at an Italian restaurant in the middle of Koh Samui but luckily, I'd read all the amazing reviews of La Lanterna Chez Nello and decided to go for it. Booked for a milestone birthday dinner and the team were super responsive, polite, and accommodating with all my queries. The lovely owner/manager stopped to talk at every table including ours and sang 'Happy Birthday' as he brought over a birthday Tiramisu with candles. The staff were friendly and warm and they brought over complimentary and delicious Limoncello after dinner. The ambience was good and the food... oh my goodness, the food! Was literally like someone picked up the restaurant from Italy and popped it into Koh Samui! Authentic, delicious pasta, light, wood oven style pizza bases, steak was melt in the mouth. We enjoyed several dishes, but standouts were the signature La Lanterna pizza, with Truffle Cream, the Sorrentina Burrata which featured the plumpest, most delectable round of Burrata you can imagine, and the Grilled Beef Tenderloin. Ok so let me say that if I could give more stars than 5 I would! I'll start by describing the food and then the environment: This is the second time I'm here, I was here yesterday as well (was too hungry to take pictures) but I had to come back and eat here again. The pizza was absolutely incredible, didn't have that quality of pizza since I was in Italy, with perfect crust on the sides and just enough doghe on the bottom to support the sauce and ingredients. It was so good, I implore you to order the margarita with mozzarella di bofalla (it's not on the menu) I also ordered a Thai dish and it was very good but the crown goes to the tiramisu, the best you'll have for sure. It's so hard to find good tiramisu you have no idea, unfortunately I didn't film mine the last time I was here and today I did TW. Order it, you won't be disappointed.

As to the environment: The atmosphere at the restaurant was perfect, from the well-adjusted volume to the actual songs that were playing. Nice, clean, and sleek tableware, the tables are clean as well as the chairs. The waiters were super attentive, I didn't need to do much to get service. The waiters are very welcoming, you can feel it from the moment you get inside the restaurant.

● Dec2024 ● 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And we are back again for our Christmas&New Year trip. Pizza is still good and didn't disappoint. We tried fettuccine with Otalian sausage and salami this time. I found it a bit sour and strange combination to have salami with creamy sauce. This time, tiramisu didn't have caramel sauce but choc chip instead which I did enjoyed. It's still sweet but I didn't mind it at all. Thank you for your service.

● Jan2024 ● ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars We went to this gem and liked it. We had unexpectedly romantic dinner as the power was out after we sat down. It was a bit hot and unfortunately some dishes like arancini couldn't be cooked due to power outage. However, it's not their fault. Pizza 🍕 was great. I liked the fluffiness of the edge but not chewy. Pasta was also beautiful, a little sour from tomato base sauce but it can be easily fixed when we asked for shredded pamasan.

Tiramisu was a little too sweet for my liking. The cream itself is a bit sweet plus the caramel sauce on top as well. I didn't mind it though. We finished everything. We'll definitely come back again, authentic Italian food. They also have Thai food but we didn't try. Thank you for...
